  1. I don't realy understand the breeding of these pups; The sire is obviously a Collie... but how is the dam bred ? What's the dams parents ? Sorry for the questions, but they sound interesting. PS, you should be a donator and have this in the "for sale" section. Cheers.
  2. Why is any wild animal wary of man, Rio ??? Probably because we kill them !! I would assume it's learnt behaviour, because animals that have never been in contact with humans, (the Dodo ?), had no fear, and were soon wiped out. Cheers. Cheers.
  3. Typp Ratcher is English, and I'm sure he breeds rabbiting dogs. Cheers.
  4. It does seem a bit expensive, and I've NEVER understood this bit about charging more for bitches !! But, if anyone realy wants them, they will pay the price.. If no one wants them, he will be stuck with them or bring the price down. By the way, what do you guys who think these are to expensive, think the price SHOULD be ? Cheers.
  5. I like pleanty of Greyhound in my Lurchers, as I like them to have speed ! But, I must admit, it's getting harder to find the right "type" of Greyhound. It's a fact that Non-Ped Whippets are as fast or faster over the shorter distances than all but the very best Greyhounds. And is there any real "Coursing" Greyhounds left since the ban ? I discount Irish Coursing, as "Park Coursing" isn't a patch on real coursing ! Don't the coursing lads still add Pure Greyhound blood to their lines when they need a bit more speed, or pure Saluki blood when they want more wind ?? I agree with "Lurcher x Lurc
  6. Are you REALY using that set up to train a pup to jump ??? Jumping over a chicken wire and bungy cord obstacle, onto pebbles and paving slabs ?? Why not just let the dog jump normal fences onto grass ? Cheers.
  7. Saw one at a Lurcher race, once, and the other dogs were leashed up and back in the cars before the Borzoi crossed the finish line !! To big, to slow, and to screwed up by the KC to be of any use in Lurcher breeding inthis country. Shame, as they are still worked in central Asia, but I doubt there is any working lines here ! Cheers.
  8. I've got to ask this; and no offence meant; but why would you advise the lad to breed COURSING dogs, when he wants LAMPING dogs ?? Cheers.
  9. Why the hell would anyone put a Deerhound type over a pure Saluki, if they were wanting lamping dogs ?? If you MUST use a pure Saluki, then the Sire has to be something with early pace and speed...say, a good Non-Ped Whippet. Then, if you are lucky, you'll get pups with speed AND stamina. Cheers.
  10. Got my first running dog when I was 13; I'm 60 now, and allways had working dogs. When I was young, I got a well bred terrier, but found that digging wasn't for me, so swapped her for a Lurcher. The only other dog I got rid of was a well seasoned Lurcher bitch, that I swapped for a Deer/Grey pup ...... big mistake ! Even when I went abroad to live, I had dogs, and spent a load of money bringing one back to the UK with me when I retired. Dogs are with me for life, now, and I learned early on that the grass wasn't allways greener on the other side !! LOL !! It's there to see that some people hav
  11. Wouldn't say there are plenty about charts, certainly nowhere near as many as there used to be. I think there's ten flaps still on the go in the whole of Britain yet a few years back we had more than that in Scotland. Of course there isn't as many as there used to be, but we still have a few up here, Cambois, Easington, etc. If you want to flap a Greyhound, there is still the tracks to do it ! Cheers.
  12. If you are talking about Flapping TRACKS; then, yes there are pleanty about. They are simply Greyhound racing tracks that are NOT affiliated to the NGRC. Very easy to look up on the 'net Cheers.
  13. Another chance to put this pic up !! LOL !! Deer/Grey Bitch; 29", 75lb; Cheers.
  14. What's the bitches breeding ? And the dogs. Cheers.
  15. My local Game Dealer keeps all his stuff for me. There can be just about anything in it, but it has ALL been for sale for HUMAN consumption or is trimmings . I ususaly try to mix it up or give , say, beef, one day, venison another, etc. I do agree, though, DON'T cook it, I allways feed mine raw, and also supplement it with lamb ribs and knecks, that I get off another butcher. You CAN feed dogs VERY cheaply and VERY well, if you look around and can be bothered to travel and pick the stuff up ! Cheers.
  16. They are hugh foxes !! This one was around 20 lb, and I thought it was a big fox ! Cheers.
  17. you forgot about capital law an admiralty law they are all waved aside for commen law an the only man can slap a fine on is a commen law judge an if you havnt broke that law you cant be fined I know that I shouldn't get involved in this discussion, but I'm intrigued !! You are saying that ALL UK law is subservient to Common Law, and ONLY a "Common Law Judge", (whatever that may be), is the only person who can issue a fine ??? Then can I claim back the fines I've paid in various Magistrates Courts over the years, as, according to you, they , the Magistrates, wern't allowed to issue fines ?
  18. Common Law isn't the ONLY law recognised in the UK; We also have Constitutional Law, Statutory Law and Regulatory Law. I may be wrong, but I'd guess that "dog fouling" will come under Statutory or Regulatory Law, there are also "By Laws", but be sure, there IS a law against dogs shitting in public places. Just let your dog do it, and try claiming exemption under Common Law... you won't get far ! Cheers.
  19. Where do you get your information from mate ? Of COURSE there are laws on dog fouling ! Who wants to be treading in dog shit, or worse still, have their kids getting diseases from contact with it ? What's the problem with clearing up after a dog ? http://www.environmentlaw.org.uk/rte.asp?id=50 Cheers.
  20. Good diet, good excersize, good grooming, good kennelling and you won't go far wrong !! Cheers.
  21. I have thought about it,, that's why I asked the question. Do Darcy's books bring more "unwanted attention" than say, Plummers or Drakefords books, or do you think ALL Lurcher books bring unwanted attention ? Cheers.
  22. What "unwanted attention" have Darcy's books brought ? Cheers.
  23. You know I'll take you up on that !! I'll see you in Idaho next time I''m out there !! Cheers.
  24. Yeah. they have been trying to do this, and that's where the SPEED comes from !! I'm only trying to breed a dog that will do hares, roe, rabbitts..not a dog that will do coyote !! If I was in you situation................I'd be wanting your dogs breed !! Cheers.
