My uncle "Sapper" Laurie, was a prisoner of the Japenese after the fall of Singapore. He never forgave them, hated them with a vengeance. He was a very interesting man; he was the Ju Jitsu adviser on the Bond film Goldfinger, he invented some sort of mini sub and the M.O.D. tested it on the Tyne., he also blew up his workshop trying to develop a petrol alternative. He also taught me to drive when I was 13, and he never got the concept of driving lisences, insurance or M.O.T.s ? Of course there was no such thing as NPR back then ? Cheers.

Let's not forget the atrocities the ginger snaps committed ! And before you tell me we were just as bad, mC, we dropped the two big ones on them because they vowed never to surrender........two nukes quickly made them change their minds. Personally I wouldn't have stopped dropping them until Japan was a nuclear waste land, then I would have done the same to Germany. If nothing else, it would have served as a warning to any other fuckers that thought they could f**k with us ! Just my opinion, of course ? Cheers.

OK mate, I understand "Derry" is Londonderry, in Northern Ireland, part of the U K, but I have a slight knowledge, VERY slight, of the Irish situation, and I don't want to fall out with anyone who's views and opinions differ from mine ? My grandparents were from Cork, but I consider myself English, then British. Whatever any one else considers themselves, I whole heartedly agree with them ! You seem a nice bloke, and I'm happy we can converse and sometimes agree.........and sometimes agree to disagree ! ?? ! Cheers.

Truss has adjusted her dress style , hair style and speech to emulate Maggie. She has also had a Damascene Conversion from being a remainers to a brexiteer. She hasn't the conviction of her beliefs, and will say or do anything to gain power. Maggie, love her or hate her, stuck by her beliefs, wrightly or wrongly. Cheers.

A pal of mine who usually keeps working dogs has just been given his sons bully thing. The son payed over £2,000 for it but soon got bored with it and his dad took it because it wasn't getting walked or trained. To be fair, it's a lovely, laid back dog. People and dog friendly....but absolutely useless for anything other than eating and shitting. I was almost tempted to say " I'll have it" , but I gave my head a shake and thought better of it ! Congratulations ! It's a whole new phase of your life ! My only grandchild is here visiting now, we haven't seen him in person for nearly three years. The only ways I can think of is if there is a vote of no confidence in the government, but they had one two days ago and the government won. The only other way is for the Prime Minister to ask the Queen to dissolve Parliament and then there would have to be a General Election. But whoever wins this contest won't dream of doing that and being the shortest lived PM ever ! We now have what's called "a fixed term Parliament" , 5 years. So it has to be exceptional circumstances to have a GE earlier ? Cheers.

I'm a believer in "The Peter Principle "; where people are promoted up to a position where they are out of their depth, but they have been good in their previous positions. But if the Mordaunt detractors are to be believed, she was useless in every position she held, yet they kept promoting her ! She may be as bad as they say, but they are complicit in promoting her and , in my mind, more to blame.......but, as usual, no one will be held to account. Cheers.

It's all a bit Machiavellian; Sunak being accused of "lending " votes to Mordaunt, as he would rather face her in the final two, than Truss. Maybe we SHOULD move to a Presidential style elections, with the people voting at primaries for a Prime Minister. Thats virtually what we did in 2019, let's face it, millions of us voted for Boris, NOT the Torys . we are going to have a Prime Minister for the next two years that none of us voted for, and probably wouldn't have anyway ! Sunak, Truss, Mordaunt. Theres a vote today by Tory MP's and the one with the least votes drops out. Then the final two face a vote by Tory party members, not MP's, and the winner is the new leader of the Tory party and Prime Minister. I've already said that Mordaunt has lost my support for her views on net zero and the ECHR, but now I see cabinet ministers and others now saying she was useless and couldn't do her job, when in their department.....maybe so, but why didn't they sack her, or made it known at the time ? Why wait untl she is in the last three ? She has been Minister of Defence, and is currently a Trade Minister, was she really as useless as they now make out ? If so, what does it say about the rest of them ? Cheers.

As I said, more or less. Far more than May would have achieved, but far less than I would have liked ! I wanted what we were asked to vote on; "leaving the EU and all its institutions". But that was never going to happen with the Establishment being pro remain. But I feel we achieved something. Maybe I'm just a glass half full kind of guy ? Cheers.

I don't think you can blame the voter. Last election, I voted Tory for the first time in my life, just like millions of others. The reason I voted Tory, and I suspect many others did was for two reasons......get Brexit done, and keep out Corbyn. Both were done, more or less, so in that instance democracy won. I cant see all the red wall voters voting Tory again, I certainly won't. So, unless another party, such as Reform, make big strides, I'll vote for an independent, but I'm sure we will end up with a hung parliament, which will suit no one and possibly make things f

No, but enough will vote Labour to give them the largest number of MP's but no overall majority, so they will form a coalition with the Lib/Dems and possibly the SNP , which will mean a promise to the LibDems to reverse Brexit and a promise to the SNP to allow another referendum. Labour will do anything, anything whatsoever, to get into power. Cheers.

I tentatively supported Penny Mordaunt as the least worst of the candidates, but she has completely lost my support now. In the last debate, she said she supports and will accelerate net zero and the green agenda, and also she wouldn't leave the ECHR, which, of course, means they will continue to be able to reverse our decisions on illegal immigrants. So, it looks like a choice between an Indian, a Nigerian, or a pound shop Maggie Thatcher.
