  1. i run a lurcher x lurcher although he as bull through him only thing he aint took yet is deer (still legal over here).. but he will be tried ... he is a very usful dog ... when your looking dont knock the bitza bred dogs , they make good alrounders if bred right i know you said dont guess what would do you, but just thought id say ... a mate runs a saluki/wheaton/grey and he said its a very good dog will go out day and night and dont mind tackling the foxes
  2. im sure someone on here was using one along with the b+f to compare them... im not sure why but i think it might of been leveller ... pm him and ask
  3. depends on the bitch... if she is still in good health and good shape and could handle welping a litter ... why not .... to me age isnt to much of a factor its what shape the dogs in ... a friend was going to breed his springer aged 11, but the only reason he didnt was because he couldnt kc the pups (because dam was to old) and he wanted one to field trial
  4. i find the same thing happens but i just get on with it lol... try carrying your battery a couple of rabbits and a fox (have to remove them from one of my permission) then it digs in hahhahah
  5. yes , wots the other quarter in the mother? is it whippet.. a 5/8s grey 3/8s whippet dog will be more than capable of doing rabbit/hare/deer and fox if bred out of good dogs and brought on right ... a good choice fist lurcher imo
  6. if you want to get the size up, why not use a strong type russell thats got generations of work behind it - rather than introduce non earthworking breed why not use the brock dog russell in the stud section??? better than a staff imo and its a very strong russell, id use it if i was breeding off a russell bitch
  7. to me it all depends how much you as the owner of the dog as shown the dog... my dog is 3 and the lasses is 4 , they aint seen as much as some dogs , some have probably seen more in one season , so to me they will take longer to shine ... i dont slip a dog on a fox till its over 18 month ... my dog as seen 6 now ... lasses dog only seen his first last night as he wasnt ready for one till this season ... i could of slipped em early and fecked them up but what is the point ... the dogs get given a good enough chance by me , why ? because i have a good bond with my dogs and they arent just w

FECK THE BAN.! KEEP AT IT MATE

  10. when the dog catches walk the opposite way , 9 times out of 10 dog will follow you with catch in mouth when its walking to heel , keep walking but take the rabbit of her ... worked with my whippet/grey
  11. leave the bitch at home , why risk it ...
  12. there is someone on here , who bred a litter of yorkie x patts if i remember rightly ... both parents were ratters ...
  13. The Irish Hare is NOT protected...Contrary to what certain groups groups try and make you believe. Although it is on the agenda...There is no reason, just like the defeat of the proposed hunting with dogs ban, that it cant stay off the protected list. Irish hares in Northern Ireland have been subject to annual temporary Special Protection Orders (SPOs) sinse 2004 which prohibit the killing or taking, or the sale or purchase of hares. they tried to make it a full time protection order in june or july but it got threw out , there was talk of lifting the temporary orders in september 2010
  14. probably wont get a lot of people posting mate seen as its illegal in the uk to run hares and its a dodgy one in northern ireland and ireland ... seen as the irish hare is protected and to try and prove that you was running brown hares and not irish ones is a difficult one ...
  15. both your dogs look good scent, but i really like that collie x ... bet he as seen some action in his time
  16. id go the wheaton x or beddy x , or a good collie/whippet over her ...id use a half bred if it was me , for no other reason than thats what i would like lol
  17. even know he dropped the fox a lot of people wouldnt rate a dog that as dropped a fox mate ... and half the people over here would of got rid soon as it did ...
  18. theres my dog he is beddy/whippet/wheaton/grey x bull/grey (bitza) he is 9/16 running dog 7/16 bull and terrier mix done 2 fox last season on his own first one this season he dropped , but i think i know why ... second one he had this season didnt drop it ... not give him any more just been running him on rabbits will try him again this next week or 2 then leave him till next season ... he is now just over 3 ive had him since he was 6 month old , bought from a lad on this site back when i lived in england ... even though he dropped the fox he is a very good dog and he wont be leaving
  19. i dont have an end to the season , as i have to keep rabbits and foxes down on a couple of the places i have permission.. where there aint no issue about keeping them down i dont lamp or dig unless i need a couple of rabbits for food
  20. my runs shite and falling to bits have it tied up with bailing twine , good job the dogs aint worth a wank or they would be stole by now .... overall its 8ftx5.5ft and 4ft tall with a mesh roof, is only a terrier pen really but altered for the 2 lurchers , its small but as my dogs are hardly ever in it ,it will do
  21. well done rab... was you out beating cover when you got that?
  22. get yourself a spaniel, a well trained spaniel will beat a terrier at bushing any day of the week... if your set on a terrier why not look at beddlingtons or plummers ... both make cracking rabbit/ratters ...
  23. why is that?the north is british.i thought the rule would be widespread. No, it doesn't work like that it might be under british rule but it as its own parliment a bit like how the laws differ between england/wales to scotland (as they have there own parliment) and a ban never got rought in they keep trying but it never gets voted in
  24. still legal in Ireland and Northern Ireland to hunt foxes with dogs as for the strains id say there still about just people are keeping things to themselves more nowadays with all the anti brigade about so you dont here as much about them now ..
