aisling in the NORTH, it was on a temporary protection list it dont matter if it as been on it for years they re-newed it every year ... this year they sought to make it permanant but they failed ... but they banned the coursing events ... i aint talking about the south as i dont know about down there and the way your getting on you i dont think you do either
aisling3 im starting to think you cant read as i stated in a previous post the irish hare was on a tempory protection order , they tried making it permanent but it didnt go through as of the 7th of feb you can now hunt the irish hare before that you couldnt ....

Countryside Alliance Ireland welcomes the decision by the Northern Ireland Assembly not to give full protection to the Irish hare. An amendment tabled by the Alliance Party to give full statutory protection to the Irish hare was opposed during the further consideration stage of the Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill at Stormont on Monday 7 February 2011. 19 MLAs voted for the amendment and 56 against.

is the box an 8ft box ? if so it sounds like it aint picking up the collar signal try it with a differant collar it might be that and not the box at fault
you can hunt deer legaly in the north with dogs and since the 8th of feb you can now hunt the irish hare to ... but over here hares have a season think it starts the 31st october not to sure but it deffaniatly ends on the 31st on january...
to be honest the irish hare aint no better than a brown hare , ive ran both with my dog and he as caught both and he aint a hare dog ... if you fancy running one articgun get your self over and run some i got plenty permission with them on ...
im no expert but my way of thinking would be if the dog as come out after an hour and half ... id say leave it for a while as she obviously aint ready if she aint staying with her quarry ... you need a locator on her as you dont know weather she was being pushed about like feck down there and thats why she as come out or was in one spot and could of maybe killed her quarry so left it

mid january last year i got a hare it seemed a very easy kill for my dog , when cleaning it out found it had 2 young in it , so that was me stopped for that year ... been seeing plenty of hares about and they seem strong enough
