  1. It is easy to say what you'd do until it happens. Like culling dogs, it is easy for some to talk about doing it, but when the time comes it is a different story. It was for me! Like lurchergrrrl (but I'm a mom of 2 not 3), I would LIKE to think that I could handle everything with a cool head. But I can remember the first time my son split his head open when he was a darling little 4 year old (where do the years go?). I took him to the doctors, they were holding him down trying to stitch him and he was screaming "Mommy, I thought you loved me! Mommy help me! Mommy!" at the top of his
  2. so this all happened 10 weeks ago? if it is all true then as much noise as possible should be made.
  3. Deborah unfortunately without any proof to backup what you are saying, some will not (if ever) believe what you are saying. Too many times people have come on here and other forums, impersonating and just plain making up things in order to cook up who-knows-what schemes. do you have a link for the Our Dogs paper? Clive Rees specializes in country pursuits, but he might be able to assist you as it is in regards to the RSPCA who he has fought before. do you have an after picture of what the dog you rescued looks like now? I assume he's been bathed/ clipped/dematted etc and likely

    Swine Flu

I have to fly to California every month and am due next week to go for a few days, I sure hope this doesn't explode into a problem, I heard on the news the EU issued a travel advisory against coming the the US or Mexico & Central America ...
  5. I always thought it was a derogatory term, especially with the phrases "pikeys were seen in the area" or "fecking pikeys" that seems to always be on the dog thief threads ... I have always wondered how many supposedly stolen dogs were actually dogs that got out of yards because of open gates, digging out etc?

    Swine Flu

what exactly is swine flu? Is it something that the tamiflu vac would guard against?
  7. do you have a link to any of the articles that have been done on this? It might help prove your case and soothe the doubters that you are genuine
  8. I don't see how keeping them in the house would change how they chew their bones?
  9. lovely, I have truly missed the man, and felt sorry for those who could not experience his writings! Thank you!
  10. weighed him this weekend and he is 38 pounds, 23 inches what is Joop?
  11. like it or not, some people are just not comfortable with face to face confrontation. If it was me, I would be grateful that she or he wrote the letter and put it in the box versus ringing the RSPCA or Council ... at least now you know about the problem and can correct it rather than being pestered by the RSPCA or Council.
  12. I'm 5'5" and when I let Noose out of his run he will run circles around me and will literally jump over my shoulder 3-4 times. He is so agile and quick, so when you asked about his being quick like Joop, he sure is! I had to start putting the leash on him taking him out of his run because he is frantic for the first few minutes, after he has calmed a bit and we are away from the barn I'll let him off again. He is pretty lightly built at this time, but presumably with some height he'll gain more weight too. Is she slick-smooth, or a heavier denser coat? He is not feathered but his coat
  13. nice looking pup, I love those dark brindles
  14. Hey, we have to start them young He is coming on so well, I couldn't be more pleased with him. And the few things that he has done wrong has been because of me. If I am busy and don't take him for a full long walk (1+ hours twice a day), we pay for it with him running circles around the house chasing a squealing dog. He'll pick whichever one that had the misfortune of being let out with him, he'll hock them or neck them, and then just rolls around on the ground thinking it's fun while his victim tries to escape, or decides to submit. The only two that he will actually leave alone are
  15. could someone please repost it either on the forum or using photobucket? That hosting site must be blocked from my work computer and I am curious now!
  16. oh come on Mol, it was cold and I needed the extra cover! Dan I don't lie when I say the pup might give Tia & Blister a run for their money, his feet are just awesome
  17. well now that I've got the camera back (for the second time) I'll be better about posting my updates about Noose. If anyone other than Ben has a littermate, post your pics too please! I want to express my gratitude to Wood1 for this pup, he has been such a joy to have, I could not have asked for anything better. before he came over when we first got him in January good feet! his first car ride-handled it like a pro eating dinner his plaything Jugs - the only thing that keeps him quiet unless he is dog tired playing
  18. I broke down and clipped my collie for the first time the other night. I was planning on just doing her legs and belly as I had done in the past, but then I went crazy and finished her completely. YUK. But after I saw the amount of hair that I took off, I am so glad I did it. It filled a plastic grocery bag to overflowing, even compacted down. I had no idea she had so much damn fur! before after
  19. I doubt many people with dogs would drive around throwing trash out the window ... at least I hope not! It's just like having bare feet and stepping on a bone or something in the house ... Kye will curse and hop around, but will leave it for ME to step on and then pick up! I finally banned all bones from the house, if the dogs aren't in kennels, they don't get them anymore!
  20. as promised (although a month late) He was 22 inches here 23 inches as of this week
  21. who picks up trash and debris from the areas they walk/run their dogs? I started doing this after finding broken bottles thankfully before the dogs did. I think I'll start carrying a bin bag in my pocket rather than carrying broken glass in my pockets! We've found the obvious from barbed wire, hubcaps, bottles and cans, but even some wierd stuff like a teacup and saucer, and a hedge trimmer? a piece from last night
  22. we feed a lot of venison to our dogs, and other than a few bones that even Slag can't crunch through, very little is left for the trash. I would guess that a single deer will net a gallon bucket of bone pieces after the dogs are through with it. Heads are a particular favorite for some reason, although a large skull piece is always left, just too hard I suppose. And during other times of the year there are spikes in what we can get from the killers near us. Lamb, cows, pigs all seem to have a different "season". We get fat from the butchers year round. My Vegetable garden this year is be
