My father was an aeronautical engineer among other things and was involved in the design and development of the Harrier (the VOLT portion), I have one of the presentation books around here somewhere. Kind of cool to hear that it is well remembered by some!
  2. I received an order of day-old standard sized chicks in a variety of breeds in the mail Friday morning, they hatched Tuesday so are 5 days old now. Everyone arrived healthy and were under lamps and eating/drinking since then, split into 4 large brooders in my breakfast room where i spend a lot of time watching them (they go down to the kennel in a week where they have more room and are out of my house). Friday/Saturday I had a heat plate in one brooder (first time I've used one, they use a lot less power and are supposed to be safer than lamps) and this afternoon I moved the plate to a diffe

  8. very little info out even through people "in the know" ... the girlfriend is cleared, but new possible person of interest is being discussed now but still very vague information out there
  9. Just like outdoor flood lights with white bulbs? I've always used red for my inside birds, is that not necessary though? Thank you!
  10. I live where nothing preys on my birds, so they are just freeranged in a fenced in yard, and they roost up on top of the pen surrounding their nesting boxes. I've never put lights out for them due to not really knowing HOW to set up lights for that type of outdoor situation. Would like winter eggs and I'm short about 2 hours only. Any suggestions? I only have a dozen birds now, but am adding another dozen soon.
  11. Thanks, I removed it but since they freerange on an acre it didn't matter, she would just find another spot. About 2 weeks past my first post she finally snapped out of it, this summer was hotter than we've ever had (majority of temps were 115 f with even a week that was 119-124 ... I thought I was going to die!!! So maybe it was just the hotter than average temps, she has been acting normally since then thankfully!
  12. Unfortunately I've had 3 dogs with Coonhound Paralysis (all terriers within 18 months of eachother) and it has been a progression of learning. First one I had was my favorite dog ever, he was 10 years old, I took him to the vet (who didn't know anything about CHP and wouldn't admit it so I blame him for the dog dying). Worst f*****g way ever for that dog to die, I will never forget it and the ignorance we had then haunts me still. Afterwards I called several people who I had heard had dogs with it, a couple didn't shed any light on treatment/prevention, but a couple were more helpful. The unh

  16. I feel Romneys business background is exactly what will help to get us back on track, and am hoping for severe welfare reform. WAY too many people on food stamps and welfare (car, phone, housing vouchers etc) for years with no work search requirement, and those same people are the ones trotting around with new clothes, brand name food in a full shopping cart, going to the movie theatre, buying 50 inch TVs with 200 channel satellite packages, new haircuts and acrylic nails and pedicured feet. I have to buy my clothes from Goodwill charity shops, ration my gasoline in my piece of shit truck with
  17. I have a pitX that did the same and it turned out it was grain the was the culprit. In your bitch it could be an allergy to grain (wheat or corn most likely) but if you'd fed grain in her old diet, it could be the processing of the new feed rather than eating a raw diet. Hard to know for sure, process of elimination is what worked for me.
  18. Don't feed the bitch in the morning, try a couple of days where you put half of her meal in your pocket (assuming its biscuit or if you don't mind a mucky pocket), and every successful recall gets a varied number of biscuit. Feed her the rest upon returning to her kennel or back in the house. Once she's figured out that you are hand feeding her, take her out on her walk and do the same. 7 months is more than old enough for a rock solid recall, even if she is a saluki or salukiX. Try a higher pitched tone of voice for calling the bitch, and don't get stressed about the recall, because
  19. Its usually recommended to castrate the dog as the retained testicle can twist and be extremely painful for the dog. If the dog is exceptional in every way then an argument can be made to take the risk, but if the dog is average, then its best to castrate to prevent the twisting.
  20. Are there any good websites with pictures and plans for large pens/aviaries for exotic pheasants that anyone can guide me to? I have the room in an area adjacent to my chicken/goat pen so I thought I'd start looking at plans for building a pen or two for a couple of trios. thanks
  21. good pics old man ... you are looking pretty bushy with that wild beard! Hope the ice stays away for you!
  22. laying daily is not a detriment in any way ... if they aren't healthy enough, underfed, stressed, lack of light etc they won't lay.
