  1. I've heard them calling all ready. The maize coming off is stiring them up.
  2. How far were they mate? And well done.
  3. Don't know but what comes to mind first is your daughter maybe shifting focus of the target to directly focusing on the ocular bell of the scope. ?
  4. Well that went down a treat! Washed and diced pheasant breast fried in olive oil and garlic salt and black pepper. While still tender a tin of bacon and lentil soup added. Course chopped boiled potatoes added and salt to taste. Only one small problem.....got to get another bird ?
  5. That t20 you sent is an excellent spotter Dave. ?
  6. Sure budd. Been there and have all the t shirts. ?
  7. With 17gn explosive bullets its borderline. With 20gn much better. It's not the weight per se but their construction. I said earlier I will be sticking to 20gn when I finish these 17gn off on all sorts of vermin. It wasn't many decades ago 90% of fox's after the shotgun were downed with the humble 22! Arguably a better round penetration wise I know, just over a short range. The larger rimfires just extend the range a touch. Plenty for an old man getting.
  8. Excellent work Dave. I thought it was a better night than Friday. Slightly darker.
  9. Sure Ben. I just think though when shooting large fox's other than side on they don't get deep enough....potentially. the 20gn penetrate just bit deeper.?
  10. Caught the chicken raiders moving in across the paddock. Squeaked and the big lad came trotting in. Dave was right. Couldn't see the green light. Just under 100yds in the bib. It ran nearly 100 yards and needed a finisher. I don't like these 17gn bullets! I'm a 20gn fan but I'll use these up.
  11. Tested the hmr. Spot on, cant understand what went wrong. I miss my 20gn bullets. Be glad when these fly weights are gone! Totally knackered but going out again later.
  12. So up at six to be at a farm with a crow issue. 14 to the 99. I missed 4 ?
  13. That's what I will do but still don't have a remote switch. I can only spot with it.
  14. The mouse muncher. Now to eat my words! I failed. Up at the chicken ranch I failed. I got to shed1 just to witness a large fox approaching the veranda. It knew what a lamp is also and retreated. No dice there. So I retreated and returned half an hour later to find a smaller fox doing the same thing. That retreated but offered me a shot. I could see its head clearly as it was lay down checking everything out. At the shot I saw nothing and thought it had gone straight down into the grass but I can't find a thing! So now I have educated one to avoid red light howev
  15. Well that didn't go to well. I heard a vixen screaming her head off just as I was about to give up. I moved in and had eye contact but she is lamp shy. Another lamp shy. Knows a red lamp. Someone around here is going out of their way to educate fox's! She ran in a wood. I gave it ten minutes and squealed. To my amazement she came running but as soon as that lamp hit her she stopped but in tall docs. I didn't feel confident so let her be but " I'll be back"!
  16. Started with an appetizer. Rats! Nine rats for starters now off to call for fox's.
  17. I didn't notice the stinger. I hope your rifle likes them. If so they are a bit of an eye opener!
  18. Its hog wash. Your legal requirements are to have permission, buy, lease or otherwise obtain the rights to shoot deer and thus need a rifle of legal calibre in order to meet all legal requirements. You worded it wrong somewhere along the way or said to much!
  19. Not telling my granny how to suck eggs but don't be fooled into thinking fox will only eat your cripples! Grasshopper?
  20. Phoarrr ? The rws subs are their old anemic ones but usually very accurate. The old eley hv is excellent. You have very good friends indeed. Enjoy.
  21. Me too. I'd end up eating them myself. No mr fox having them all!
  22. Wow. That's a lump of a fox Dave. Any details about getting them?
