  1. Technology, it's great, right up to the point it screws up
  2. I tried some Eley sub sonic extra today and they are superb. Are they still available?
  3. They can still snatch a decent airgun from you!
  4. Stav. Did you have any frost up there yesterday. I found a little patch yesterday down here.
  5. The 457, happily bringing squirrels together in peace ?
  6. No reds but some fallow are moving in to. Found this feller bedded down last weekend. Say Stav, don't start me off on bad keepers! If ever you need a good excuse find a bad keeper, they know every excuse known to man!
  7. To be honest many get so use to little recoil firearms they forget to hold a full bore correctly. A good grip of the pistol grip and forend soaks a lot up of the recoil.
  8. North staffs. More good news. Bunny hugger neighbors on one side have gone. New neighbors want to rip out the trees on our fence and squirrels and crows sorted by yours truly ? Today can't get any better!
  9. Good news!! I went out on my patch first light and ended up stalking a roe! Yes, thirty years I've waited for that moment! Never did get to sex it but I think it was a buck, so that might be a pair because the one I saw in summer was a doe. I am over the moon.
  10. Some are falling for the sales pitch. Anything 6.5 ( actually shoots close to a 7mm bullet) with around 40g of fuel behind it is going to give good service. Swede fan myself. Bit to old to get excited over an extra 200fps or a slight increase in BC now. In actual fact a lead ball is of more interest. ?
  11. One tip I learnt shooting light rifles for extended range sessions was to stuff a magazine or newspaper in my coat so it took some recoil, or spread it out some. Works well.
  12. And I thought I was slow! Phil! Never go a gun shop with a so called friend! It's ruined many a friendship!
  13. Excellent choice sir ? I actually like the recoil pulse from a 270. It's not as bad as they make out. Mate of mine use to turn up for fixing regular with his. It was brilliant for the job. I see you have your toilet paper ready, it makes good ear plugs! There are loads of good ear protection today.
  14. Not yet mate apart from CCI subs which are good. These are old Winchester subs. I won't bother with the new ones!
  15. No some of you are going to struggle to believe this but this afternoon I had a 200yd ( or so) off hand crow with an old Winchester subbie! Yes sir, straight down the middle! Before that I had a 70yd squirrel off hand to. It's heck of a rifle. I was plinking with it Monday night up to 300yds in a valley of fresh drilled winter wheat so had an idea where to hold over but heck, what a rifle. The trigger is awesome. Ammo wise I've been fooling with some S&B shorts and they are out! To inconsistent. That's the first ammo I've excluded with this rifle and it's no faul
  16. Lol. Me and my buddy are the quickest there. They can't keep supply up so we end up sweeping, dusting and polishing! Does my freaking head in if there's nowt doing, I start dreaming of being up the woods!
  17. I have tried it a few times at night but nowt turned up. Not the callers fault but it's been quiet here for a while now that I got rid of my slinky and she never gave me a chance even if she did come so far to a call. I use to do a lot of daytime calling but that seems to dropped off after losing some prime land. If I get chance this weekend now it's cooling down I may have another go now you've prompted me?
  18. Several years ago I had a cheap caller. It had some hideous sounds but the jackrabbit call that sounded like a cross between a goat being bludgeoned and a camel being mated by an elephant actually called several in and in daylight!
  19. Blooming eck lad. Don't worry about the rump shot. He'll be dead by now.
  20. What I would give to be out and about this morning instead of here... My thoughts are also for Jimmy and his Nat. SD.
