  1. Here are the two blanks i bought off Midnight finished. Very basic compared to some on here but they should be fit for purpose. Red Deer antler with brass 28mm compression stop ends to finish them off.
  2. Thats what i meant by antibiotic cream, comes in a syringe with a long plastic nozzle. Ideal for delivery straight into puncture wounds and works a treat. Makes more sense to me to just treat the affected area rather than the whole body with oral antibiotics?
  3. Same in Sussex, lots of places near the rivers you can just see the tops of the fence posts and hedges. Need an Otter not a Lurcher!
  4. Its impossible to really give advice without seeing the wound but this is what i do to similar injuries. Wash the area with hibiscrub or salt water and trim as much hair as you can from the wound site. If the dog'll let you squeeze as much as you can out of the swelling and syringe the abcess out with salt water. Then syringe it full of antibiotic cream and keep a good eye on it. If the swelling and redness doesnt go then it may go deeper and need a trip to the vets or a full course of antibiotics
  5. As i said above, we believe it is genetic but dont know for sure as no tests have been done. If it were up to me i'd want them done but there're not my dogs so its not my call
  6. Its not gospel as the pup never went to the vet, only spoke on the phone, and no tests were done, but it is the only explanation that made sense. He has lost black pups before just after worming from the same sire. I dont think he will be repeating the mating although, personally, I would have the sire and remaining pups tested to know one way or other.
  7. Be very careful, my mates just had a litter of patxlakies, blacks and black and tans, and wormed with panacur puppy wormer at six weeks. He lost one black pup and nearly another to the symptoms you are describing. My missus took it and nursed it back from the brink. She needed 24hr care with lectade and syringe feeding for two days and then hand feeding for another two. Shes fine now and the rest of the litter, the black and tans, showed no ill effects. Apparently it may be a gene carried by the sire that only appears in black coloured progeny and causes an adverse reaction to the wormer.
  8. Find someone who knows what they are doing and let them advise you and help you find a pup. Some things can be learnt off the internet but some things you have to see done to get it right.
  9. I love to see the old pics, whats the story behind the fox ones?
  10. Think i would arrange to go and see the pup as a buyer, once you got the lad and the pup in the same place do what you need to do. I would want to leave the money he paid for it when i took it back so the theres no running to the law about theft. Whatever happens get that pup back. Its a shame for a pup that young to be messed about.
  11. Here it is http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mens-Tweed-Laksen-shooting-jacket-medium-/261144057078?pt=UK_Men_s_Coats_Jackets&hash=item3ccd6614f6

Seems a bit odd to me, cant see it happening round here and we have plenty of the filthy buggers wandering about. Hope the old boy and his dog are ok and i assume you lads will be returning the compliment?
  13. Same as, keys, phone, knife etc. Most bizarre was one lense from my glasses, couldnt work out why everything looked so wierd until went to clean them and realised one was missing!
  14. Buy a tennis ball on a rope, wrap a fresh rabbit skin round it anb bunch the extra up round the rope, cable tie the skin round the rope and cut off the extra. Leave that on a hot radiator for a couple of day and its done. The skin get kind of mummified. They last for ages as long as you dry it out again if it ever gets wet
  15. I've got one rigged with hazel and its worked for several seasons. They are not as good as fibreglass but when needs must ...
  16. Sounds like he proved himself and ment alot to you and thats all that matters. RIP Havoc.
  17. Bit of a balls up, bought a beautiful Laksen for £160 from ebay but its a touch too small. Absolutely gutted. If anyone wants a Laksen tweed in a medium them let me know otherwise its going back on ebay and i'll have to start again
  18. I've used the rings for years and they've worked lovely. I dont double them over as the stretching makes them perish but use two, one above and one below the clove hitch so they pinch the line together. Works for me anyway
  19. Thats a shame Joe, I hope you get a jill sorted soon. ATB
  20. ouY lads dont know how luckyyou are! Great post, looking forward to the next one!
  21. Thats a shame, all the best
  22. Unless you really dont get on with the dog you've got i would try and train him to do what you want how you want rather than starting again
  23. I think its pretty obvious on this thread who knows what they are talking about and who doesnt.
