  1. hopefully things will improve next season & beyond. I like this section there doesn't seem much squabbling like on others. maybe we are all of a certain age ?
  2. a long dog is a cross between 2 sighthounds. a lurcher is a sight hound crossed with anything else. terrier.,hound.etc
  3. looked a nice little drop. see you still use the traditional nets.
  4. I don't think you can go wrong with mike brown lines. have also seen some good non peds.
  5. not many posts on here lately. apart from missing out on a few early drops beginning of season I haven't looked like using my nets this time as rabbits very thin on the ground. apart from Mr Wilkes & smithies trip well done by the way is everyone else in the same boat?
  6. I meant kennel names. rabbit runner, lynperry. penny meadow. etc
  7. didn't you try the well known named breeders?
  8. stupid quote. try telling that to most lads on here.
  9. the pup's must be aimed at the show & pet Market. surely no one wanting a working dog would look at them. sad thing is I would say 75% of beddywhippets go to pet homes.
  10. I have only had beddywhippets for years mate & it's not a place I would be looking.
  11. it was a three quarter whippet x Bedlington was Ted. Will try & create my own in a few years from my first cross bitch. if they end up anything like Ted I will be well happy.
  12. just had some purse nets from Bill. never been a fan of spun polly prefer 10z nylon. he's done me crossbraid nylon & I must say best I have ever had superb nets top quality ?
  13. pretty sure map reader was using home made quickset nets. he certainly knew what he was doing. enjoyed his posts.
  14. she sounds a top notch marker to me. I have always had a marking dog. been offered a day's ferreting but no dogs & always turned it down the dog is part of the team couldn't go without her.
  15. good day & a good write up. you certainly get good numbers. here it's mooching with single Jill and little dog for 1s & 2s but no complaints enjoyment is there just the same?
  16. for a lot of lads who have no permission nothing changes really. it's like going back to early days everything you do is illegal.
  17. there was a colony of them in the Peak District. thought to have established in 40s from releases from riber. widely seen in the years since. harsh winters & Road kill are thought to have wiped them out. last official sighting is around mid 90's so some claim otherwise.
  18. could be late in the day not wort risking a lay up in the dark?
  19. end of the day when dog marks & ferrets in & nothing found. it's either the dog or the ferrets that's wrong personally I always go with the dog. I only turn in when the dog marks that's her job. Trust the dog.
  20. anyone remember what the thread is about
  21. if the dog marked then it's either dog or the ferrets that's wrong.
  22. good experienced ferrets will do a three point turn if they have to.
  23. I am not saying it can't be done. would like to know if anyone has done it.
