    Saturday was our second day, I was there just as the sun was rising to feed round and have a look what was where before the guns arrived first drive was the usual “ tip drive “ I seemed to have a lot of beaters this week and a few wild dogs, from the minute we set off birds were getting up over the guns, 5 minutes into the drive I heard some shots at the end of the drive ? turns out that one of the members dogs had ran right through the drive putting a few birds up, luckily it only did the top and he managed to get it back on a lead, we finished that drive with a flurry of birds at a go

    ? all gone a bit mad this, this is why I normally don’t comment on such matters, if you are happy with your own life why does it matter what anyone else is doing, I’m sending you all a virtual man hug, do with it as you please ?

    They do, you don’t go with men because it repulses you and that’s fine, same as a gay person is sometimes repulsed by the opposite sex, that’s also fine, but them bisexual’s are just plain greedy ??

    If gay people are disgusted with heterosexual people then that’s just as bad as heterosexual people being disgusted with gay people, it baffles me why people show such an interest in other people’s lives if they are different in any way to their own, I think sometimes it’s because they think they are missing out on something ?

    It could well be and I’m sure many people will make decisions they will regret later in life, I don’t understand many people’s life choices but doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to live the way they want to, without being judged by others, I’ve always gone through life doing whatever I wanted even if others were against it so I would never have a problem with someone else living their life the way they wanted as long as they weren’t hurting anyone

    To me it seems a lot to do with when you grew up and who with, my old man was very much “ look at the bloody gay boys “ kind of fella but would happily sit in the pub and have a drink and a laugh with puffter Paul, I’m of the thinking you are to long dead not to be who you want to be and try to be happy. If you spend your time being annoyed with how other people live their lives when it doesn’t affect yours then maybe there’s something missing in your own life, just be happy with what you’ve got, things in life are bad enough without hating people because of how they choose to live their lives

    I don’t normally involve myself with these kind of conversations because people should be who they are in my eyes i have 2 mates that are gay, the first is a lad I grew up with and if you met him you would never know, it took until his early 20’s to come out when we’d been on a night out and we were at an after party chewing our faces off, it changed absolutely nothing, he’s just like most of my mates, likes his game shooting and has got a very nice life, the other is camper than Christmas, even his family know him as puffter Paul, you would never say it to him if you didn’t know him, he’

    Back up at my mates farm this afternoon, firstly to have a look for a doe, I did see one with a buck but it never offered a shot and I had to let it cross the beck onto next doors land and secondly to take a young lad out with me that in the near future will be putting in for his FAC so wants as much experience with different calibres as he can, today was the .17 and hares were on the menu.     Chicken dinner today, was meant to be home alone today, but missus didn’t end up going away, only had chicken breast in the fridge but pot roasted them with a few bits and bobs to make the gravy, you would never tell it wasn’t a proper roast chicken ?

    If he’s getting the entry level one for an air rifle it will do what he wants perfectly well, the higher end thunder is to much scope for an air rifle ?

    I think for the moment I’m going to carry on as normal, aiming for 40/50 bird days, they have got to be happy with that, before I took over I was on a day there and the bag was 8, in all the time I’ve been going they had never had a 50 bird day, they had almost 70 on the first day last weekend, I’ll just keep my eye on the numbers as we go through the season, I don’t want to get to a point where the numbers are like they used to be

    It’s all about managing your stock in a normal season, I would normally do a mix of drives aiming for between 40/50 but with the way things are at the minute I could easily do them a 100+ bird day but then people start to moan when the next couple are 30 bird days, once over they would of been over the moon with a 30 bird day,I guess I’m a victim of my own success ?

    Feeding this morning and I’d left them a day longer than I normally would, to try and make them go looking for feed, I’ve cut right back feeding around the pens and they are getting off roost and going looking for food, for some reason today by half 10 they seemed to want to be on the back field at the farm and along the tip drive, which isn’t a problem as the tip drive is always a good one to start the day off, I could just do with pulling a few of them out the other side and into the piggeries drives.     Looks like there’s a break in the weather tomorrow afternoon, so I’ll be out ? until then we’ve got the snooker on the idiot box your mate was very lucky, it’s a dangerous game, not just the keepering but how many times have you been out on your own and nobody knows where you are, my missus always says “ mind what you are doing “ when I go out and I always say “ don’t worry, I’m the most dangerous thing out there “ but you can never be 100% what could happen when you are out ?

    It seems like an age since I was last out doing what I like, what with work, the flying chickens, the weather and a small problem at home, so late afternoon today I thought I’d have a look for a roe doe up at my mates farm. Well that wasn’t to be, I did see 2 bucks and one was an absolute cracker, where were they when they were in season ? anyway I decided to hang around as I’d taken the caller with me, so getting to my favourite spot facing the wood I set the caller out about 70 yards to my left as it was quite light and not a breath of wind, 10 minutes in with the caller on vixen in heat and

    Dropped some venison off for one of the local wrong’uns, I told him I didn’t want anything for it, but he said if you won’t take cash have this, I googled it and it’s £35 a bottle, he’d of been better off going to the butchers for his deer, I’ll give it a go later ?

    I own a pulsar helion 2 now and it’s good but it wasn’t cheap, I’ve used a lot of others, one of the best was the HIKMicro Gryphon also the HIKMicro lynx pro was very good for the money
