Draw time, first up the tank top, names have been pulled from my hat amazingly terryd’s name was pulled from my hat ? secondly, the tweed shooting vest/gilet, 2 in on this and the winner is Deker finally the pull over, Ianm, was pulled from the hat now I don’t want any shouts of fix or requesting a recount this draw was carried out in front of an independent adjudicator ( the cat ) If all winners can PM me your address I’ll get them sent as soon as I can ?

Day number 6 and a bit of a stinker, fog is bad enough for pheasant shooting but freezing fog is a nightmare, we are getting a little low on birds now in many of the drives as the season moves on and some lose cover and others become wet and cold. Up to this point they have shot well over a third of what we put down, another two 25 bird days and they will be on the way to shooting half of what was put down, so they’ve had some good shooting. We made the day up mainly with drives that we thought there may be a few in with the weather we had, first was Gordon’s pen, there was a few came from her

Them cartridges are expensive, so use them two boxes up on Saturday missing my flying chickens and to save you carting it back with you I’ll give you your 75 quid back ?

Don’t worry, I may expect it but the rest of them don’t have a problem letting me down, At first I thought it was out of respect for all my hard work, now I realise they are just sh*t shots ?

It was lovely up there today, clear blue sky and a little bit of heat in the sun, I keep checking the weather for Saturday hoping for a good day, I don’t know why because it will be what it will be and we’ll be there whatever the weather

I keep watching reviews on them and no one seems to have a bad thing to say about them, I was impressed with the one I had a play with, did you manage to get one without the ir ?

Feeding this morning in preparation for Saturday, I took the thermal with me as I wanted to see what was about to put a bit of a plan together with the shoot captain as we are fast approaching the end of the season so we need to make the best of what we have left, I have got 2 drives that still have a lot of birds in for this time of year and they are Gordon’s pen and the piggeries ( tree side ) and another 2 that are not to bad, forestry pen and piggeries ( ruff side ) so if we do theses 4 and add in a couple of small ruff patches we could potentially have a good day, this time in the season

I’m really tempted to get one of these, I had a play with one yesterday and as a day/night scope I don’t think there’s anything better on the market, I think I may even be able to live with replacing the vortex on the .243 with one ?

I do love a sxs, the first shotgun I ever used was a old baikal it was proper ruff but handled lovely and I tried and tried to get the lad to sell me it once I had my ticket but he wouldn’t I don’t mind what people use on a shoot day as long as they hit something and don’t shoot me, I will draw the line with a semi or a pump though

They look at each application individually, possession of a shotgun is as straight forward as it gets, you want to go and shoot clays, you don’t need anywhere to take it, but can use it to shoot on land where you have permission, I was what many would call a bit of a character ( or twat ) when I was younger and I’d kept my nose clean for a few years and applied for and was granted a SGC a few years later got my FAC, just be completely honest when filling the form out, you pays your money you takes your chance ?

This is true, but let’s say “ john smith’s “ life isn’t going to well at the minute, he’s in a dead end job and his missus has ran off with the milkman, the only thing that cheers him up is busting a few clays on a Saturday, he’s feeling a bit sorry for himself and makes an appointment to see his GP, the GP says I think you need to speak to someone and refers him to a councillor, this is now a medical intervention even though there’s no drugs involved. It’s just a blame culture, I read the full GMC guidance last night and it seems like they are putting it in the doctors court where as before it was up to firearms to carry out the required check, which we all gave them permission to do, I can see that now it’s in the hands of the GP’s that in between renewals they are in a position to inform firearms if a person has became unsuitable but like SD said it will stop people seeking help if they think they will lose their tickets

It baffles me how they end up with a back log, the know what’s coming up for renewal and as they are turning everyone down at the minute you would think it would give them more time to get on top of the renewals
