  1. Ok, so they are still about then...... have you used the .22 shotshells at all? They have their uses, but not many, or very often!!
  2. Insulate Britain has apologised for "causing disruption" to roads around London over the past several weeks A spokesman said the group "profoundly" apologised after Prime Minister Boris Johnson labelled protesters "irresponsible crusties" So..are they going to stop?????
  3. One post and thats it...looks like we will never know!!!
  4. 8 years old thread, no point starting it off again!!!!!
  5. Can't comment on shogun loading. Rifle reloads will (almost) always be better than factory as you can tailor them exactly to your gun/barrel and needs. Materials and setup costs (and practice) will set you back a bit, but if you shoot to any extent, the costs will start to pay dividends in the long run, as long as you don't factor in your labour time!!! Many reloaders are never happy either, its in the nature to keep tinkering, that can lead to loads of ongoing time, successes and failures, and that all costs of course!
  6. It's been quiet round my way, wasps are not my main area (but always useful), numbers certainly down on last year for me though!
  7. Why is it that people always want to keep things a secret, but let someone else spread the word, even when it has apparently eaten all his livestock?? Usual nonsense!
  8. I've come to this late, possibly because I got caught up with one of these protests a few days back. I was so far back in the queue I thought it was a nasty accident causing the problem. Whichever way you want to look at it this is not the way to make a point on win friends, if I had known the problem I would have lent a hand to move the selfish idiots, how on earth do they think they make a point delaying/annoying so many drivers. My views on these protesters is unprintable!!!!!!!
  9. I've got a Rapid 7 MK11 in .22 FAC I'm looking after for someone, big onboard bottle and 2 large mags. Fair/good condition, any ideas on price for that, I know he'll be looking to sell when he gets his life back together!? Cheers
  10. There are a large variety of pellets and QUALITY of pellet. Some pellets are well made and pretty consistent, whilst some suffer from wide manufacturing tolerances. There are also many shapes and weights and sizes of pellets, and I don't simply mean .177 or 22 etc, I mean the variations within each standard calibre size, such as 5.5, 5.51, 5.52 etc. All this has an effect, so of course does your guns barrel, and we go back to the old adage, you need to try a few to see which works best in your gun for YOUR USE!!! Just because someone says X Y or Z is the best pellet, it may not be for yo
  11. I suspect most would be low, 11.95 is a virtually impossible figure to guarantee, there are far to many variables of pellet, atmospherics, temperatures, elevation etc etc.
  12. So would I, and frankly with the shorts and longs as well (even the .22lr quiets). I have a few longs about somewhere, (and a few shot shells, that's a different story but something you can't do with FAC Air), but I can't actually remember the last time I saw any caps or shorts for the .22....can you still buy them???
  13. "There's nothing wrong with FAC air. I'd argue it's as good as .22LR and HMR on small vermin such as rabbits, grounded birds and rats............................... I just don't see the need for FAC Air + .22LR + HMR. Any one of those, will perform the same function as the others on vermin" ?????????????? why do you think all those sell, if they all perform the SAME function as the others on vermin! And who suggested there was something wrong with FAC Air?? They all serve a purpose, they are tools in the box, but to suggest they perform the same function is misguided! FAC Air
  14. The wasps were/are still best for me in mine. I'm fairly confident the Airsporter was a proper .22 throughout its model life, someone may know better than me on that (they did a .177 as well of course), but pellet (and other gun manufacturers) were steadily moving to 5.5mm. It was/is incredibly simple mechanically and maybe BSA/the Airsporter did suffer from a lack of investment/technology, just plodding along with it making little more than cosmetic changes until it ceased production!
  15. .22 Air rifle + moderator (Vermin control) .22 LR + moderator (Vermin control/ target shooting) .22 LR + moderator (Vermin control with NV) .17 HMR + moderator (Vermin control) Put them, and everything you apply for down for Target work as well (depending on what your club allows). I work professionally as well as socially (previously competitively as well) with firearms and have a fair few, FAC Air is part of my tool kit and certainly useful for me at times, but its also the least used, so think about that! Stavross mentioned
  16. Yes, I was rather upset about the box, that was mint to, and I had saved it a very long time!
  17. Just like I said...Tools for the job!!!
  18. This is a school job from a while back, all with HMR, I did another College job last week and took out 5 foxes, 4 with my HMR and 1 with my WMR, I often take them with my .22LR as well. I have never done a Domestic fox or school/college job yet where I needed a centrefire! Tools for the job, and rimfires are commonly the tools for the job on foxes for me, over the years I have taken far more foxes with rimfires than centrefires. Of course there are other jobs where the rimfires are non starters, but again, tools for the job!!! If you don't like HMR that's fine and your choice, but they see
  19. I think it has already been well mentioned but put simply, one is NOT better than the other, they are different, they are tools, and just like your tool box you take out the most appropriate for the job you are doing!!! That's why so many people have lots of guns in lots of calibres for different jobs, including air and shotgun and pistol!
  20. Interesting stuff and made me think about mine which I bought new. I'm pretty sure it was 1972, flippen 'ek, that about 50 years ago!!!!!! Has a GJ stamp so it's a MK5. Absolutely original, even had the original box up until a few years back when the EX threw it out after the divorce. Doesn't come out very often these days!!!! Edit, The scope is a bit more recent (although still old), I seem to remember that came off one of my Dads guns!
  21. Is 6.5 creedmoor the best all-rounder? I'm interested in rabbit fox deer, and target practice on a range 25-1000yrd. Good luck!!!
  22. Sportsmans gun centre in Exeter is the biggest I know, there may be bigger. So if you want a look around then its fine, as to which is the best, that's anyones guess!!
  23. The words Budget and LONG range shooting don't sit that comfortably together. Of course you can get some good results, but the longer the range the better the equipment you need. In the field I rarely shoot past 200 yards, and very rarely past 300 yards, my field tools and ammo are perfectly adequate for that. I also use the same tools on the range out to 1000 yards and get results of a sort, but when I use a pals proper target rifle set up for the distance I'll get nearly 50% V Bulls, that's a massive improvement. Almost any rifle brand is capable of some decent results ou
