There is actually a larger selection of .22WMR MADE than HMR, but in the UK you will probably find you have a bigger choice of HMR. Cost wise, like for like (as best as you can) you will find WMR marginally cheaper than HMR! .22LR has a very big choice (relatively) and is much cheaper than either WMR or HMR. I have mentioned it a number of times but there is some very acceptable, (in some barrels) and very inexpensive .223 available. .223 Barnaul FMJ 55g and 62g can be had for around £14 per 100, .223 Wolf HP 55g can be found for £18 per 100 and Privi has a selection at around £30-£

You may find this useful.... http://www.harrisbipods.com/ Deben and Sportsman websites will give you a lot of info to (as well as others no doubt)

Can't see any need for "pointing or sniggereing", whatever helps to improve poi is valuable. What do you actually want to do with the rifle? I tend to use the .22LR almost exclusively for 40g HP Subs these days, quiet and VERY efficient out to a decent distance with a great peel on the bullet turning it into a mushroom and punching a big hole and delivering pretty much all it's energy. HMR certainly has its place for me and bunny headshots are easy at 100 yards or more in the right conditions, don't find it any much use for anything bigger than bunnies much past 100 yards. My .22W

Where did you get the BC figures from, I have a devil of a job to ever find any BC for rimfires!!! But whatever your charts say I can tell you a 17g HMR is not good with crosswinds at 100 yards!! You have to get used to reading the wind!

help with try9ing to get open fac please

Chickens and eggs or eggs and chickens!!! I am lead to believe from others that Scotland will quite often issue an Open FAC on first application, round my way it is not unheard of to have a Mentor for your first .22LR now!!! One again a major difference of interpretation and administration of the Firearms Laws around the country!! -
Im ready for the next level....the FAC

Hey thanks for all the info guys! Unfortunatley myapplication has been sent now, however, i will discuss the use of a centre fire with the FEO when he comes for the interview! Cheers Lads!! On the ammo front did you ask for expanding??? ...and the FOX business is crazy, my region are ok with vermin meaning fox, but my .22LR and HMR specifically list FOX anyway, others regions will not entertain fox with .22LR, etc!! No i didnt ask for expanding....again i beleive this is a 'grey' area. Many FAC holders mentioned they never put expanding because if the reason for -

Yep!!! Any doubts at all just check the cabinet with the supplier!!!

There is a lot of indecision on this one, and some regions insist on Fox being listed on your FAC for fox, but others accept vermin. With a larger calibre already approved for the likes of deer then ACPO has recently accepted you can use that calibre on fox, even if fox is not stated on your FAC. However, the real fun is with smaller calibres and rimfires where many regions will NOT accept certain calibres for fox, but you may well have "ground game and vermin" listed against that specific calibre. The only 100% answer is to ask for FOX specifically to be listed...best plan is to dis

Well, I'm only 29 (and a bit)

Hi Everyone I'm off to see my lad in the Middleaze area of Swindon next Sunday. Thought it might be a plan to take in a Clay Shoot, does anyone know of any please and can you let me have some details or contacts for any shoots within maybe about 15 Miles of the area!! Thanks!!

Good call...I'd have said that one every time as well...BUT..it was actually the one over Pangbourne way, that had a larger branch in Wales, and stuffed the world for around £50Million!

Whatever works for you on your land and at what time of year.... ALL camo is simply disruptive pattern material (DPM) and has an awful lot of varieties. What so many people forget though is skin, commonly hands and face....stand under a pigeon flight path wearing the best camo in the world and look up without any cover on your face, and watch them all turn off at 90degrees!! The closer you are, or want to get to quarry the better your camo will need to be...so it is commonly quite important at air rifle ranges! Orange or Yellow Hi Fiz shouldn't cause too much problem on a 200-3

It doesn't according to at least two different police regions I know of. However, whether, ground game and vermin covers fox or not hasn't yet been tested in the courts.....do you want to be the first to try?.....stay safe and ask for FOX specifically on the smaller calibres!! It is not an issue now on larger calibres as ACPO has accepted if you have larger game (Deer/Boar) listed on a calibre you can also take fox with that rifle, even if they are not specifically listed on your FAC!! England and Wales!!

Despite the wording on the application (which is being opened up by many forces now) anyone of "good standing" that has known you long enough will do!

Blimey...actually making me feel quite young..... First shots around 45 years ago First air rifle 36 years ago The Rimfire, centrefire and shotguns followed some years later although I spent many years shooting club rifles and pistols through this period as well!! No ferrets or birds First gundog about 3 weeks ago...my lad just bought one!!!

You would think so wouldn't you...that's why it surprised me more than a little bit a couple of years ago when a certain RFD suggested a SAK for my .223....I did decline his offer!!!
-
Sumo it depends on which gun you have springer`s like lighter pellets precharge like heavier pellets cheers stu This seems to crop up from time to time and I can see no logic in this at all...if we assume energy in the form of compressed air at the same power is released from both, can you please explain the above statements! Cheers! The other old tale that the police will always check your gun with a bisley magnum to get the most power out of it would seem nonsense if the above is true!!

-
No harm sending GMK an email to ask, you never know it may be an encouraging response, they usually respond in a couple of days or so!!
-
There is no distance specified in the legislation, you may have seen a distance figure quoted somewhere as a guide, but that is what it is ..a guide, not law!!
-
I'm not sure but I suspect not, have a word with the importers... http://www.jacksonrifles.com/ They suggest 10,000 rounds through the SAK for a HMR (not sure I agree) but the Hornet has a LOT more grunt than a HMR!!

Got a little fuzzy since the Deer Act amendment last year but in simple terms you can use 12g with AAA or bigger under certain circumstances, unless for humane dispatch!! Not the best idea though and only suitable at close range, the appropriate rifle is the best choice for almost all situations!
-
Dealer or Engineering works and a heafty bill, probably around £100+ for everything to want! already got a silencer, what about if i cut and crown the barrel myself?what would the screw cut cost?roughly! If you can get a threading for £100 at a RFD that is about the rate! (usually about £120 with a cut and crown as well) Who knows if you can find a "Quality" local engineering firm, but threading needs to be done very accurately!!

Got me well confused there....a 12ft lb air rifle does not have a "flat" trajectory at any time in any respect...it will hit the bull at whatever distance you zero it to as long as it is within range, still conditions and you can hold it steady!!
