  1. Interesting again...Scotland and England do have differences, but NON LEAD is the order of the day for Shotguns here, does NOT apply to rifles though!! Canada Geese are already on our General licence and it rather looks like Egyptian are going on it (which surprises me) but no sign of Greylag yet?
  2. Anschutz and Sako may lead the pack but VERY few people will notice any difference in performance to the CZ. I have 3 CZ Rimfires, they do everything I want! I have the light barrel on ALL mine, no need for the heavy barrel at all for field work, you will not find any difference in accuracy, just weight, simply a matter of preference!
  3. The English General licence is still not 100% for next year but Graylag are off limits here without special approval ..... probably different in Scotland ...anyway ....any centrefire is capable and yes it is legal ..in England. Scotland does have differences so you need someone to confirm that who knows Scottish details better than me!

  5. Scopes and reticles become very personal and can also have a serious effect on your pocket, not either of these though! The AGS is acceptable and the Simmons is an excellent scope for the money. They have different reticles though, so that is the first surprise, the second is that if you have an 8-32 on an air rifle why did you get a 3.5-10 on an HMR. I'm a bit lost to be honest...
  6. Flippen' ek....... I can see where you are coming from with the boiling water but that's the first time I have heard of that one......and not something I will be rushing to try!! I did say "some people" deker, I don't do it myself, but if you cork the muzzles and fill the tubes without soaking the working bits, it must loosen any dirt I guess.I think it a very old method. Now, what I do do, if there is anything showing past the cones, is to put the cleaning rod in a drill and run the bronze brush up and down that end only. It does no harm as the barrel is much harder than the bristles,
  7. Best of luck with it, you have certainly made the right choice calibre wise for a deer/fox rifle, and Howas tend to be Ok too! Far bigger choice of ammo to deal with all sorts of situations/quarry with a .243 than a .260, and personally I do not consider a .308 a deer/fox rifle! (even though mine is conditioned for both). ATB!
  8. At that rate I wouldn't be too concerned about barrel wear, as long as it looks ok go for it. One shot, one fox!! Check to see if it been used with a moderator, this can sometimes lead to crown damage! If it's not shooting too clever try getting it re-crowned, that will probably put a bit of life back into it and not cost the earth. ATB!
  9. The ammo is quite fast, that is largely the point of the calibre. That being the case barrel maintenance/cleaning is pretty important. Barrel life is likely to be less than many other calibres but there are few who wear them out..how many foxes do you have???

  11. Gold star for that man, it was meant to come up like that when I started the thread, still not sure why it didn't.
  12. Does CZ still make the 550 Scandinavian?? Used to come with open sights, for some reason I thought they stopped making it, or did they just change the name, OK, I give up, I'm probably wrong anyway!!!!! The CZ generally are workmanlike, efficient and have very few bells and whistles, the Howa could be argued to be a little prettier! Howa used to guarantee 1.25 inch groups at 100 yards, never did impress me much, frankly the metalwork is ok but I do not like the Hogue stocks at all, personal thing, many do!! Overall, I don't think there is much to choose between either. Don't se
  13. This has sort of been done several times before with the .17HMR but I'm after comments for the .22WMR. All being well I'm picking up my new WMR next week and need a new moderator, I sold my Sako Mod (bearable) with the last gun. I have tried lots of Moderators on the HMR and WMR and have not been much impressed by anything. I am prepared to spend sensible money if someone can suggest a decent mod....please do not suggest the Whisper! Cheers A Tec ??? Jet Z ??? Any views
  14. Hi Guys, Appreciate the responses and very grateful! I think you are all referring to the proof mark, which would obviously tend to be indicative of the age of the gun. I was just wondering if CZ built anything into the Serial No/etc as many manufacturers do to date it production wise! Cheers
  15. Mixxy is horrible and I have no time for it whatsoever, but immunity is something for the scientists! As for hoping they will all return next year lets get it straight...anyone at Pest Ex..Do I assume that is what you meant, wants rabbit removed or at best controlled!! If you are a "sportsman" and want some "fun" then you obviously want some quarry, I am a Game and Vermin controller, as are most at Pest Ex and I am paid to get rid of them!! We come at this from completely different angles, too many forget this!!
  16. Not thought about this before, but does anyone know how you can check the age of your CZ Rimfire?? Cheers
  17. Field/Game guns "tend" to be lighter than clay guns, often narrower ribs, etc. This could get very complicated but put simply most normal/average shooters will be able to hit most things with most shotguns. There are many specialist shotguns that aim and shoot and fit for specific disciplines, but assuming you don't get a too specialised gun you will probably be able to hit things pretty well with whatever you get. So...get what fits and feels right and forget simply spending lots of money, that isn't always the right way to buy the best gun for you...and most people will do pretty w
  18. Ok . So do you agree the .260 to be a better deer round due to it's larger range of deer bullets, delivering more ftlb than the .243 with a flatter flight ? He may or may not, and my knowledge of the 260 is not extensive, but when I hit a deer with the .243 (or .223 or .308) it falls over! Different shooting situations are different, ideally requiring variations of calibre/bullet. Therefore, one calibre is not necessarily better for any quarry than another, so I suggest saying a .243/260/308/whatever, is better for deer is not that realistic. There are those that favour even bi
  19. Whilst they are capable, very few people will use a 20 as First choice for Pheasant, perhaps that's why there is little response!
  20. Don't know why the picture hasn't come up, if anyone can sort it out I'd be grateful....... and.... this is real, just found it on the CZ USA Website!!!
  21. So...what do you recon...will it catch on??? CZ Pink.doc
  22. I use the jag all the time (rifles as well, with smaller versions and patches/cloth) but with the Shotgun I am no fan of the plastic or brass thick ones. I prefer the good old fashioned twisted wire with a loop, I virtually always use kitchen roll in the shotgun (good quality stuff). All of course after a good scrub! Works for me, but everyone will have their own preferences and cleaning regime. Simple fact is, if it works for you and cleans the shotgun/rifle it is fine!
  23. I'll have to check them out, unless I'm going blind they do not appear to wrap right round the tube, have to admit I don't think I have ever seen that before!! Looking at the results I take it they work ok and you are happy with them!?!? Cheers
  24. They are good and I'm after the 13-27 model but the one in your picture is the 12-25 model... If it says 25C or your package someone put the wrong Bipod in it! That is a 25S Cheers you are correct deker thanks for pointing that out i was measuring the legs when open and not the distance from the plate to the floor cheers archiekale They both list at the same money anyway, but spec is a little different. ATB! PS. For many people I suggest this model is a better bet (the 12-25)! Most will be able to use it Prone and sitting, the 13-27 model is harder for most to use
  25. Thanks to all those who have shown an interest, the gun is now sold and gone to a RFD who took one look and offered me more than I was advertising it for here! Result for me and someone missed a deal!!!
