So there I was on a new site last night, 2-3 rabbits already down, another in the crosshairs circa 50 yards away, pull trigger...CLICK-NOTHING (Oh ****) maybe half a second later BANG! Rabbit falls down and I'm mighty relieved. It is strange how many thoughts can go though your mind in a very short time when things go wrong. Nothing wrong with the case when I ejected it (although I have a growing number of split cases), my guess is poorly spun primer, the propellant did the job and rabbit was deceased!

I would appreciate some help please, I haven't had this long and I'm not impressed. It took me 2 weeks on and off, to manually import my phone book to this Raspberry and now it looks like a new phone is on the horizon. How do I download/save the existing phone book please so I can hopefully copy it to the new phone?! Cheers

Interesting diversion.

And here was i thinking i had read just about everything that i could on this site. THIS has got to be the best post ever, shooting feral pig with a HMR priceless.... I will be on the phone tomorrow to insist I have wild boar added to the quarry for the HMR FFS somebody please help me..... If you had AOLQ listed you would not need to, is that something else S Yorks don't do? I have heard much about them over the years, they do seem hard work!

Think again, what sort of stock/barrel do you have, weight is not just about weight, it is about barrel harmonics and barrel/stock interaction as well.

Not according to South Yorkshire it isn't. Admittedly things may have changed but this was their stance a couple of years ago. I know you have several calibres to choose from Deker, intersted to know under what condition would you reach into your cabinet and pull out the HMR if you had a call to dispatch a fox? South Yorks are not in the business of shooting Foxes, they run a Firearms dept! No but they are in the business of issuing out certificates to those who do want to shoot them and implementing conditions relating to said certificates I feel that has very little to do with

Edit I reach into the cabinet and take any of my rimfires for virtually every garden fox, barn fox , chicken fox, etc etc. Lobbing centrefire rounds at foxes in the next county is seldom req

We are not saying it is not, up to a short range, so is a .22lr but there are far far better options than a .17 hmr, 100 yards without wind should be the limit, 150 yard shots on foxes are not on, I dont care how good a shot you are. That isn't what the OP asked...do we always turn round and say a .243 is debateable on Fox at 750-1000yards? You use any calibre/ammo within its capabilities, and that of the shooter.
-
As SS said earlier, why is this debate still going on? You use any calibre/ammo within its capabilities, and that of the shooter. So, is HMR suitable for fox? YES!

I would appreciate your comments, I know nothing much about either, which would you favour and why? Please, no other suggestions, one of these only...oh yes, does the Sony have a Flash for the camera. MANY THANKS!

I really don't know, I had considered/thought probably Blackbird, certainly could be a Robin, but the chick is actually bigger than an adult Robin? I was at the site again last night and looked around the area for a nest but found nothing, so this may remain unresolved! Cheers!

The rifle is almost always more accurate than the shooter (unless the rifle has issues), trying different ammo doesn't change that, it will simple steer you in the direction of the ammo the rifle favours. When you have that combination then most other variables are the shooter! You would need to clean and clamp the barrel to get any sort of a statistically relevant idea of ammo, as well as using a lot of ammo, but usually just a handful of shots will tell you what you need to know! It is also worth repeating the exercise in a few months, or a year or two, depending how much you use

Many thanks to everyone who has helped here, some good information and contacts, much appreciated. One more question, I am getting confused about the actual material from various sites, so................. Polycarbonate or Perspex/acrylic, and why? Cheers!
-
It's a Birchwood 31 Commodore, 1982, later models only had the one window here, mine has two. Cheers

I would really appreciate some help here please. I need two sheets of Acrylic, cut and drilled to size as pictures, dimensions are 680mm wide, one side 600mm deep the other 680mm and 10mm thick, rounded corners and smooth edges, they will need drilling as the screws indicate on the pics. These are very nearly mirror images of each other except for hinge holes. Can anyone steer me in the direction of a company that can do this for me please? I am prepared to travel a bit and would also be happy to supply plans or take the existing polycarbonate to the company a

I didn't consider scale as I took the pic but you get some idea from the grass, to add a little, the chick seemed bigger than an adult robin!
-
I have an idea, but that's all, found it on a new site I was surveying about 19.00 last night, picture taken with my phone, and then right up close, it appeared uninjured and also fearless, it made no attempt to move as I virtually stuck my phone up its nose to take the second pic. I moved on leaving it untouched, thinking the fox will get at least a snack tonight!

I trust you get a really good discount for buying in bulk? 2 tons originally and now 1000, you must have a big storage facility!

Cz452 .22Lr - Interesting Groups At 135 Yards
Deker replied to Elliott's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Inconsistency of propellant/rim/bullet weight, weather and luck/bad luck. Too few shots to make any real judgement, just the way it happens sometimes, do it again another day and the results will almost certainly be different. -
Good luck to you all, should be a good weekend!

AA Field 5.51 works best for me, the hunters fly higher and a bit left in mine and don't group as well! Edit, mine is a Falcon running around 26ft lb!

New Shooter Equipment Help
Deker replied to Clarkey1990's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Do you mean.... Hawke Eclipse 3-12x50 AO IR mil-dot Hawke Eclipse 4-16x50 AO IR mil-dot Either should do, but IR is just a novelty and seldom has a real benefit, and as the Eclipse are no longer made I take it you are getting a good price!
