  1. Would LOVE a dog like that Kane...could use him here, but not in ALL the earths...be a good dog to have for Coon and Fox here...plus, he looks liek he could be naughty for a bit of barn hunting (Raccoon).. Kye,..
  2. Bloody hell!...he'll be showing Poodles next!..lol...Glad you had a good time Badger!! Your lucky i didnt bring these Cur bred pups...wouldnt have been a hare left for anyone elses!..lol. Badger..we killed summat with teeth the other day...not a coyote, bobcat or fox though...maybe tell you on the phone when we talk next...not ideal, and not realy proud, but the way the dogs worked made me VERY proud!...i would think a Coyote wont phase them...just got some wind of some new ground only three hours from me...i will check it out soon. All the best..say hi to the wife for me... Kye,..
  3. Badger, i will buy that black gyp off you...$10...final offer!..lol. Nice pics mate...shes some tool...put me down for a pup from "Dutch X Timex"...i will even let you stroke some real dogs when you get to Ely!... :11: Lets hope Timex has passed some of her abilitys to Tor eh!?.. All the best,.. Kye,..
  4. Jordon, you look like you just won 10.000.000 on the Lottery!..lol..whats up, your season at Hog-Warts not going well!?..lol. Is that the ferrets that i gave you Royst...do you still have that line...you better do boy!...best ratters ever!...do you remember 'ole "Half-Tail"?...what a jill! Some feet on that brindle...looks like it might even be tough enough for over here in the desert!..lol. Good do lads, keep it up... Kye,..
  5. Hi Bolio,.. I think you hit the nail on the head mate...the dogs used over are are mostly bred down from gear that came with the settlers...of course there are lines with Bull blood in though, but they seem few and far between... The main reason that i think Bull Cross' 'aint used is that they just would NOT stay sound...i know lads that have foot/wrist injurys back home, and the ground is NOTHING like it is here...these dogs are capable of coursing for miles, and tackiling heavy game, on there own in need be...of course there is shite over here as well though...im talking about the best, w
  6. Good work...nice to see terrier work still be used in a legal and humane manor...keep up the good work! Kye,..
  7. Theres not been any PURE blood put in them for god knows how long mate...just Staghound to Staghound...if it kills coyotes, it gets bred from...if you look at pictures of the OLD Wolfhounds, she looks just like them imo...the feet are amazing, the crap they have to run on over here...they are still sound... I will see if my digging partner can post some picks for me.. All the best,.. Kye..
  8. Maybe steal a few of them Lakelands of you boys, if you think they could handle the game over here!...lol. Nice type guys, keep up the good work... Kye,..
  9. Macker, soundslike the ones i keep...although they áint realy deerhound X's...they call them Staghounds over here... She is a big bitch, topping 31", and she is only around 12-13 months...not done a whole lot with her...just little bits of lamping and Dobled up coursing...dont want to spoil her!...The rest of the litter have done real well...all going into Coyotes with gusto...my bitch hasnt had a chance yet, she is still a little gangly...i realy like the type...Quite stubborn to train though...but once you get them there, they handle well. Kye,..
  10. I couldnt find any lads in my area that bred them, so i hooked up with a guy (who i am know firm friends with) in OK...im in NV...thats a fair ole drive...there are boys that ship hounds/dogs to certain parts for fair prices...i know there are some very good dog men in NY state, that hunt staghounds...they use them to catch coyotes that are being pushed buy hounds, alot like many of the gun packs do in wales (before the ban, putting guns and lurchers in certain areas to catch runners/bolters)...one guy has a litter mate to my bitch. There out there, you just have to look... Also if Ridgebac
  11. Me and FR had some fun recently lamping Cottontails with a bitch that is know a shade under 31" and just 12 months old!...lol...Shes a Staghound...probably not the best type, but we didnt tell her that. Maybe if FR reads this he could put a pic up. Kye,.. PS...the male i have is one of the best lamp dogs ive seen in along time for his size...he is 29"...
  12. Why not just try what all the coyote hunters/coursers are using?...staghounds! Kye,..
  13. I read that they where talking about starting a season on the Wolf, in Michigan, Idaho, and Montanna!...It was in Full Cry, and i think i read it in Fur-Fish & Game?.. All the Hound hunters in Michigan are sick of there Hounds getting eaten/attacked buy wolfs, when hunting 'Coon etc,.. Yeah, Coyotes are a bigger problem, i agree...there has never been so many...when i was in CO a few weeks ago, we seen a shit load of them, and even found a Red-Fox that had been killed buy them...there not good to have on your digging land, thats for sure...its seems the first thing they go after is the
  14. IMO, the rig FR is using is the best i have EVER used...ive shot Falcons, Rapids, Daystates...they where like comparing a burger to a steak!..lol. It realy is an awsome bit of kit...it was almost NOT sporting shooting things...if the cross hairs where on it, it just got shot...simple as that. Never have i shot such a good bit of fine tunned machinery...words realy cant describe it, its that good. I dont think there is anything i would change on the gun myself...other than ME owning it and NOT FR...lol. Kye,..
  15. Who the hellsaid wolfs are endangered for a start!!??.. If they where so endangered, why the hell would they be opening a hunting season on them?... Wolfs have been re-introduced into states, and game numbers and livestock are suffereing for it...hence why the the goverment want them there, but "Only in managable numbers"...thats why they want them thinned out. Im not talking abouting coursing Giant Pandas, or going shooting for Condors here!..lol...If you look into things, you often get the facts. Kye,..
  16. Anyone who kills for Brownie-Points is not a hunter in the first place... I think most dog lads will hunt most things to test there dogs...thats one of the main reasons i dig my terriers and run my sighthounds. Just because you hunt an animal does NOT mean you cant respect it at the same time does it?...I have the upmost respect for EVERY animal i have ever hunted...the day i dont, is the day i will stop hunting!.. Kye,..
  17. In order of the quarry that i want to hunt the most (and most likely to!) it would be Raccoon/Fox as a close first...then maybe the ever elusive American Badger, then Ground Hogs, then Possom...im not that bothered with Possom and Ground Hog...but digging summat is better than digging nothing!..lol. I think you need a smaller dog for the GH's...but i wouldnt breed my terriers ti suit a small quarry...i like Fox and Coon, so the dogs i keep should be able to work these...i think i like a medium sized terrier for over here...around 12 1/2 to 14"...and 16-20lbs...my wife has a nice little white
  18. Wolfs have been succesfully hunted in MANY countries, including the Americas, with various types of dogs...even the word "Coyote" is a relativly new word...not long ago, they just called them "Praire Wolfs"...some of the old time Coyote hunters out here just call them wolfs, and there dogs are just "Wolf Hounds"...some have a short coat, some have a wire coat...some are big, some are smaller...there is just one thing that a dog must do to earn the title, and thats kill Coyotes..lol. Im sure that IF it was legal, wolfs would be succesfully taken with the use of sighthounds again... Kye,..
  19. Taffy, im certainly no exspert on the Raccoon mate...i would LOVE to be though, i certainly do like digging to them!...There heads are quite deceiving though...although they have a smallish muzzle, the base of there lower jaw is realy wide, and they can give quite a punishing bite...but the thing you have to think about with Coons is that they rake the hell out of the dogs faces/eyes with there claws...the red bitch had quite a close shave with her eyes getting gouged at...plus, if a big strong dog was to grab a big coon, and try to rag on it, they have a very strange method of defence...most
  20. Gangster, for no other reason, other than the fact that we keep ourselves to ourselves...plus we dont want lots of irate husbands knocking on our doors, because there wifes have run off looking for us!..lol. JD,..FR will be able to answer that one about the Porqupine...i dont have any exsperiance with them...all i know is that the Hound hunters in Washington and Oregon hate them! It was a good time, and the hospitality that me and FR got in WY was great, plus what FR and his family showed towards me, was GREAT!... Cant wait 'till next time. Thanks again FR your a real terrierman and a t
  21. No i wouldnt say a wolf hunt would just be like two dogs fighting!...a coyote ( a decent one) is roughly 38-48lbs...although they do go much larger and much smaller...so you could say its like a Lurcher trying to kill summat around the size of a small Alsation bitch, or maybe a big collie?... Wolfs are a WHOLE different ball game...some of the Northern types go close to 180lbs...even bigger in some cases...the you have the smaller types like the Mexican type...but its illegal to hunt them with dogs, so i guess we will never find out?...this is only what i have been told though, as my exsperia
  22. Theres Staghounds out there that can kill coyote quite regular on there own, and they weigh about 75-85lbs...its not the gameness, they have to stay "sound"...feet, wrists, hockes etc... I know off three or four dogs, that IF it was legal, would get slipped on a Wolf, and imo, i think they could take one. Kye,..
  23. Over here, they shoot treed Mtn. Lions with .22 pistols...there not a hard animal to kill...a .22-250, or a .223 would be plenty!.. Plus Foxhounds would probably not be a good choice for hunting cats...hence why they dont use Foxhounds for it!..lol. Mtn Lions will run from almost ANY dog that is willing to push it...they have been treed buy terriers and collies!.. There has been a lepeard shot on the isle of white, and a Lynx shot on the Norfolk suffolk border...they are there, imo. Kye,..
  24. Hi there,.. There are plenty of Lurchers over here mate...maybe not in your area, but they are here!!!.. There is coursing clubs, and there are heeps of guys out killing coyotes with Staghounds (big lurchers)...you just have to have a look around... Kye,..
  25. Nice type there guys!...should be belters!.. I hope that "Big-Dave" levels out at 12-13" and turns out a little to small for you Kane!..lol.... Kye..
