  1. Cheers for the info guys...i look forward to seeing them pics Shaun...there is a woman who lives up the road a bit, and she has whippets...ive heard she knows where to get feet protection etc...i will let you guys know how it goes.. Kye,..
  2. Hi mate,.. Didnt know to many keepers in that end of the woods, sorry...knew a few in the Rodmartin area when i was a kid, and i was mates with a keeper in a little town outside of wroughton... To be honest, we kept ourselves to ourselves...there was just a few close friends that used to knock about with each other, and no one new what the craic was...plenty of twats knocking about, but lots of game to be had. Ive heard alot of it has been built on know though, and the game has gone down hill drasticly... Kye,..
  3. When i was back home, i hardly done any road work, i was too busy working the dog..lol. If you did that over here, the dog would be dead in a week...the ground is so bad, that the only thing that keeps them sound is loads of road work...i tell you what though, there stopper pads get a hammering!...ive tried everything, even tapping them up and strapping them...one or two turns and it just comes off...any ideas? Kye,..
  4. I would never run my dogs without there collars on over here...the only reason being that there is a huge population of wild/feral dogs around my area...plus coyote/dog hybrids...thus you get pissed up townies driving along shooting anything with fur...if my dogs went missing for whatever reason, at least the collars they wear can be seen along way off... We dont have fences, trees, or bushes, so thats not an issue...my running dogs where the reflective orange collars... Kye,.
  5. Where abouts in Wilts?...I used to live in Swindon. Kye,..
  6. I realy liked the look of the "Fresian"..lol. Nice type...sorry to hear about that mate, but what else could you do?...he had a grand life, and worked hard...if only they lived for ever eh?... Remember the good times buddy... Kye,..
  7. Good luck with the pup Royston,..they sound nice...give us a ring later bum boy... Kane, tell the bloke that has the red pup to think of me when hes,..er,..ratting with that dog!...lol. Kye,..
  8. There is a MASSIVE difference between being SCARED ofwater and NOT being able to swim... Just because they dont like getting there feet wet, dosnt mean that if you threw one in deep water, it would drown!...IMO, anything with arms and legs, if its finds itself in water, can swim!... Its like running...i cant run that far, but when you have the Old Bill after you, you can keep running all night if you have to... Kye,..
  9. ... Kane, your f*****g killing me here!... Kye,..
  10. Hi all,.. Just wondering if any of you lads that run hares (Pre ban of course) use pure bred Salukis?... Ive never realy had that many chances to run hares, the main reason being that when i was back home there wasnt many about on my ground, although we still managed to get a few. Ive been out with a fair few Saluki hybrids, but have only ever been out with two pure bred ones...one i rated very highly, it done everything, lamped rabbits, ferreting, mooching, deer, and it was a very nice hare stopper...it would go in on fox, although it was never that keen. The second was probably the WO

  13. Hi mate,.. I dont know a whole lot about the hare killing dogs...although we ran a few back home, i was never paid to get rid of hares...i was just a little rabbit hunter!..lol. My mate here at the moment knows more about it...he has had a few good dogs...his Dad has had a few good ones too... Me mate says, a friend of his ( a traveling lad from Bishop-Auckland...there family name is Harip) said it was an old guy who owned the dog named "Joe"...apparntly he was very choosy which bitchs he would line his dog too...he says it was around 500 quid for a jump.. I cant wait to see what a dog f
  14. Yeah, Rockys back over Stabs...He says to say hello...and have you slept in any trucks lately!?..lol. I havent a Digi Camera at the moment JD...getting some nice footage though...maybe get FR to put some up for Ian...i should be up his way soon. 15. I cant beleave it...just back from running the dogs out the back of the truck...Blister just flat lined one after he pushed it onto the dirt track and picked it straight up!...he has taken some scabs off his legs and wrists, so im gonna keep him on the leash until he has healed up fully...should eb out with me mate from Co. Durham this saturday...try and get some more film. Kye,..
  16. Funny you should say that Mush,.. We should be getting a dog over here called "Rip"... He is out of "Rosie" which David Passmore (He had "Shrearer" and "Reefer" and "No-Tail") owns in Co.Durham..."Rosie" is out of "Cruise" and "Foxys" dam (Craig Nuttals bitch "Ueey" which produced some good dogs/bitches) and i think "Rips" sire is a old dog from down south named "Joe"... The dog has taken plenty of hares back home, pre ban...he should do well over here, he has bags of stamina,...will let you know how he goes! Kye,.. PS..Do you know any lads from the North East...i have a mate here from
  17. Hi Kane...it was around 50-55F...but the sun had only just come up...the heat plays a HUGE part in running the dogs here...you have to go out with HUGE amounts of water, so the dogs can drink, and to wet them down...its cooling down nice though know, so its getting better. Im gonna go run the dogs out the back of the truck soon...Blister is in fine condistion, but he has a few slight cuts on his wrists...they will be healed in a few days...i just dont want him to keep opening them up, coz they take a while to heal then!.. Kye..
  18. Hi there Max,.. Badger would be able to tell you better than me, coz he bred them...all i know, is there is no saluki, a no bull in them...i will have to get some pics up some how...i dont have a Digi at the moment... The dog is 29" and the bitch is 30"...measured them this morning...over her they are just called "Staghounds"...i love 'em!.. The dog has a Borzoi looking head, and a old type deerhound look to him...the bitch lookslike an old type Wolfhound...amazing feet on them!...Bags of stamina and speed...ive yet to test there mettle on coyotes....they should have a look at a few in th
  19. I rang you as soon as i got in mate!...Get that dog off of Dutch fit, hes got some running to do if he wants to beat this brindle Cur!...lol... :11: I think the secret is in the breeding mate!,... :11: Speak soon mate,.. Kye,..
  20. Up at five this morning, and headed to a good spot about an hour from the house... Had Tor and Blister with me, both raring to go...Jumped the first, but came unsighted after 200 yards...got the dogs blood up though..lol. Second one, both dogs sighted, jumped roughly 40 yards ahead of them,...Tor being younger (and slightly less fit) was about 60 yards behind Blister at the end of the race...she has lots of heart, but until i get her fitter, im gonna keep her off the daylight Jack rabbits (Hares).. anyway, i knew this hare was in trouble, because Blister had boxed him out of the cover three
  21. Me and FR might be up near that way soon...might hook up with me mate from OK, to run summat or other. We went out this morning...my male pup ran a jack rabbit for four minutes, in real heavy cover...he done well to bend it six times...he was just a speck in the distance, i could barly see him!.. The jack went down a hole in the end...dog came back with mouth, eyes and ears full of sand,...im feeling confident that the dog will do well single handed up at Medicine Bow. Kye,..
  22. lol...i hear a new story everytime i see them pics... :11: Kye,..

    Big Grizzly

Yeah, Kodiaks are just a bear that lives on an island...imo, although it looks a very large bear, the hunter is just sat a fair way BEHIND the bear...still a nice one though,.. A friend of mine (ranked third in the world at hand gun hunting) shot one last season...he shoots single shot pistols...having only one shot, he had to wait as the bear charged him...the bear was so close when he fired, he had back spray from the bears blood on the muzzle of the pistol!...the season before that, he shot one as it was mauling the guide...mental! Ive spoekn to some guides up there, and they have droppe
  25. Really happy for you and the dog mate!...cant beat it can you when it all goes to plan!... That realy is summat to be proud of..all the very best for the many more hunts with that Beddie in the future!... Good to see a old breed doing what they should be doing!... Kye,..
