  1. Im going to start pigeon shooting this week and im looking for a few pointers. Ive got a dozen shells and 1 full bodied decoy. I know you should face them into the wind but anything else will help. Links to previous topics are also appreciated as im pretty sure this has been asked before. cheers.
  2. Can anyone help me find a site that you can download calls ie; magpie etc to your phone? I have tried varmint al's page and its great, but its for the american market with the majority coyotes etc. Is there a british version? cheers
  3. Thats a feckin good deal guevera!!! I paid £43 for a case this morning.
  4. Im only ten minutes from roxby. If im not working i will have a look.
  5. Anyone used the 9v or 6v superfire torch-gunlamp? I was looking at buying a deben stinger or x-verminator for my rimmy ages ago but never got round to it as the winter meant people would come lamping with me at "sensible" hours so i didnt need anything else really (ive a cluson clulite). Now the light nights are coming in i will be lamping alone ( late o'clock!). I dont want to carry my clulite around so i was looking for a really small compact lamp and got some feedback for the two forementioned, but just found this "superfire" which looks exactly the same except it costs a lot less.
  6. Nice looking bird mate. Its good to see birds on proper perches and not on bike handle bars etc! How did she break her talon and is her beak as blunt as it looks or is it the photo? al
  7. I think there is a fine line between tongue-in-cheek banter and offensive drivel. The forum is well run imo. If people feel the need for offensive comments then im sure there is a forum somewhere that caters, this is a hunting forum remember.
  8. Very nice. What was the calibre you used to drop them beasts?
  9. When theres girls that looked like THAT!
  10. There is a topic on this somewhere else. I used to put veg oil in my fiesta van at a ratio of 70% oil in the summer and 30% ish in the winter and i got more mpg on oil! If you have access to a wholesale warehouse the oil is dirt cheap and absolutely fine. Im not sure on the newer motors though, my van was a w reg i think.
  11. I dont know the history behind the traps so i cant really comment, but if my traps are fixable i sort them and if they arent i throw them. If you can get quality seconds then great, but i would personally buy new so i knew they were decent ones . The cheap ones snap in hard frosts and the springs are poor and dont kill. I too am a tight git, but i found out the hard way that with traps it pays to buy the good ones!
  12. I live nowhere near shugborough ( come to think of it ive never heard of it) but if you really are that lass in your personal photo i will gladly take you!! Please say its you, pplleeaassee!!!!!
  13. Only gays have moustaches- I think its actually illegal for straight people to have them, unless your 17 and from a city centre and somehow think that a bumfluff one looks good.
  14. First of all you get what you pay for- avoid the £1 ones like the plague (any style) . They are rubbish, period. I use scissors, duffus and fenn (yorkshire) and have no trouble with any, choosing the type for the particular run. The talpex traps are getting some great reviews but i dont use them. Duffus are brilliant if used correctly, so dont believe whoever told you otherwise. There is money to be made in moletrapping, but its HARD work. I trap every day just about through the winter and come home absolutely knackered, muscles aching and have nearly been reduced to tears or jacking it in
  15. Ive flown through the summer and the problems you find are there is too much greenery on the trees and too much cover on the ground. You catch young prey also, which though i was doing it for a job and not a hobby , i thought it would be unsportsmanly to do as a hobby. If its a harris you are flying, then she will look a little scratty in the following season but thats only a superficial problem.
  16. I cant get away with the talpex. I got one to play with but it doesnt "do it" for me.
  17. Sometimes you get some really awkward jobs mate, and sometimes jobs go swimmingly. Other times you will have bad days and good days as opposed to jobs. Just before that frost last week i set 140 traps over a couple of fields at one of my farms and caught a personal worst of 14 moles from them!! Then again, a bit back i set 25 traps at a local sports training field and caught 19 moles in one night- a great ratio! Swings and roundabouts, al
  18. Never liked him. I think its a bit like posh and becks- the editors of the papers THINK that people like them and they sell papers but in fact people cant stand them and the editors of said papers dont know jack schitt.
  19. I bought some from the pound shop of all places a couple of year ago. They looked great- they were like the t-rex rat traps except for mice and basically a copy. I bought some samples thinking if they were fine i would use them but after some tests i found they would close on the mouse and only injure it! crap really and really glad i hadnt used them on jobs. Wouldnt use anything but bona-fide traps now.
  20. Im jealous of you to be honest. Ive never seen an otter wild!!!!!
  21. Well done mate, theres plenty of work out there.
  22. Ive got a hatsan escort, and cant fault it at all. Cycles everything i put through it.
