  1. Nice, ive never managed to hit one with my dibber or my podger. When the mound starts to move i always stick my dibber in but always miss! Fasest catch for me was i was setting duffus in a field, and i had set one at the edge of the area. I was just covering it with soil when it went off, i thought i had knocked it and set it off, but lo and behold a mole! It must have been trapped at the perimeter and tried to make a run for it when it went dark Got to be a world record Nobody was there to see and plenty dont believe me. Wish it was in a garden like you, bet you looked a right pro! Sha
  2. ive got a couple of farms that size. I work my way across, maybe say traps in a field one day. The next set the same in the next field, check the others and move on. I try not to use too many on any one farm in case they get nicked. Dont give a time as it will take a while. One word of advice will be to stipulate that he doesnt need to be in the fields with his machines for fertilizing etc, sounds obvious but ive had loads lost because of it.
  3. If youve got nothing to tie you down , then i would probably say go for it. You will probably spend the rest of your days regretting it. When youve got a mortgage its a lot harder to do. Then again, i worked hard and ive about paid mine off now so im glad i never.

    Golf

Nope. Never batted a golf ball in my life and never will.
  6. I live in cleveland but on the border, about 3 miles from north yorkshire. My permission thats on my fac is in north yorks, nothing for cleveland so its a similar situation, my shooting is not in my constituency but it wasnt mentioned by my fao.
  7. Great topic mate, im totally with you on this. The media are so shallow. Council estate kid dissapears and its not major news. Posh couple of doctors, she's very pretty. They lose a daughter and its MASSIVE. Absolutely stinks.
  8. Cheers denny. I learned loads today and it was my first outing. Like you say, once the birds start pairing off i will do better. I think i would have had a few today was it not for the heavy winds.
  9. No i didnt to be honest. I was in/under a holly bush with top camo stuff on and a wide brimmed camo hat. i dont think they would have seen my face as it was pretty well covered and it wasnt as if i was constantly peering up, just looking straight ahead with the brim down. Just wondering, what size shot do you kids use?
  10. Alls well that ends well. And great photos too.
  11. Went out this morning at 9 pigeon shooting. Had to go then as i took kids to school and had to finish at 2 to pick them up, anyway, I set out 12 shell decoys and 1 full bodied decoy in a field next to where i had seen loads of pigeons ( that field wasnt my permission) but its windy, very windy. I had a couple of shots and missed at 2 that flew over, but it was quiet. A while later a flock flew past, hesitated at my deeks and flew on- problem? this happened twice. The ones and twos would come in but the flocks wouldnt, why? I brought the deeks in closer to me as i was missing them ( 30-40 ya
  12. The topic is on here somewhere. There was a fly tying company that would pay you for your pelts but you had to be a member of the traditional moletrappers society at £75. I thought it was a bit of a con as i get enough work anyway so dont need to join the society.
  13. Never tried a baikal but when i wanted a semi all icould afford was a hatsan escort. The write ups from the usual shotgun people was they were crap but i can honestly say its a really nice gun, cycles anything and im very happy with it. For that price its surely worth a punt!
  14. Perfect sense richie. Listen,if you ever sell your gun give old trap trap first dibs!
  15. Ive asked on various forums for a few years now and no-one is interested. I catch four figures every season but end up burying them where i caught them. There was a topic posted, probably on here, of a fly tying company after them, BUT you had to join the "olde worlde mole trappers society" or something and that cost about £70 or so. Dont think its worth the hassle to be honest.
  16. Cheers hunting t-s. Everything is a help at the moment!!
  17. Richie- im having them same problems. Its a one shot .410 im using with no ejector so if i need 2 shots i need to be fast to break, pull the cart, replace it and shoot again. Your gun looks spot-on, very smart indeed, exactly what i would treat myself to if funds allowed. Inan, if that last post is a dig at me, dont be an ar*e, i always try to dispatch animals quickly and have the upmost respect for my quarry. I dont know your history but if youve never shot a pigeon or a pheasant without winging it or youve never shot a rabbit thats managed to get to a hole before you reached it your eith
  18. Had a look out to a spot about half an hours drive from me today. Was by myself so decided instead of netting up i would have some fun with my .410. Really enjoyed it. My 2 ferrets -albino and polecat jills worked brilliantly- first bolting a couple of young, both dropped by the gun. Went to 3 warrens in all and walked a long hedge riddled with holes. Total of 5 rabbits killed, 1 pricked , and quite a few blatant misses . I usually take the 12 bore shooting rabbits and really missed that second shot thats available, especially on the pricked rabbit that got away- i guess i will have to get
  19. I lost a few the other week at one spot. I know for a fact that the keeper that lives about 1 mile away keeps anything that he classes as a pest down to an absolute minimum-and he classes most things as pests It wasnt walkers/kids as its in a right out of the way spot so it had me thinking, still arent sure!
  20. Quick question- is there a minimum size for the net/hide. Theres one 3metres long i might get-should i get longer/bigger?
  21. Cheers boys- there wont be a pigeon within a 30 mile radius that isnt shi**ing itself right now!!
  22. Cheers rolfe. Im under the impression that they land into the wind, so they would be facing you as they land - is that right? Also how far away do you usually plant your deeks from your hide?
  23. Sorted it! i downloaded one that was spot on- thanks s-lass!
  24. cheers scottishlass. The site looks just what im looking for, though i couldnt download anything- i will need to work on it as i arent very good on these computers.
  25. Thanks mate. All taken on board. We will have to have a look out one day bud.
