  1. I’m just going on what I’ve seen out there mate. They have no concept of sportsman like fairness ? everything is just about how you can kill something easiest or just kill something to eat it.
  2. I’d agree. I just meant culturally I think it’s probably a bit entrenched.
  3. Fairness doesn’t come into it when you’re after food and I guess that’s where the culture of many dogs comes from.
  4. Would imagine a combination of things, but you can only kill things once. And once the 22 and lamp came out and the gassing, plus dog lads and ferrets, drop boxes, snares and a bit of disease. Same as everywhere that’s good.
  5. I meant that Kiev used to be the capital of the kingdom of the Russ, in medieval Eastern Europe.
  6. On a side note if those deer are too fast to catch, how the feck were / are lads catching red kangaroos with a top speed of 70 kmph? Maybe they only can do it in short bursts
  7. To be fair he is technically right on that one ?
  8. Aye and that’s 100% what folk on here are going on. But you tell me why a dog that could catch a fallow or a roe daytime couldn’t catch a deer that was smaller than a fallow and slower than a roe ? In an open field ?!? Plenty of folk doing it. Maybe Dan’s deer were big, fast or on poor ground to run.
  9. do you remember that time ? I’ve done 100, well I’ve done 101 nah nah nah nah. Was good sport on there and dog lads were welcome. Shame a couple of dog lads who went up (and were on here) couldn’t help but be w bit light fingered and stole off the locals.
  10. No chance ? remember some lads who’ve never been there or seen the deer say they can’t be caught with dogs ?
  11. Sounds like it’s the least populated county in the uk then ?
  12. I’d like this to not be one of your jokes ?
  13. Anyone from there ? Near Bridgnorth specifically ? Might be renting a couple farms up that way and just wondering on the hunting etc ?
  14. Yer the chorus is a bit lame but I just thought the lyrics were good. He’s got a few similar songs. And no I’ve not I’ll check them out.
  15. You might like this @WILFbut you also might not ?
  16. You know, the ironic thing about the first statement. . . . . was that it was true. Well, it was fallow bucks that was claimed, and not red stags. But close enough. Its got to be one of the longest running joke reference on THL.
  17. Great post Phil ..... as usual. One thing I will say, a “working home” is a very subjective thing, in the world of all working dogs. The Huntaway and Kelpie were bred to work a certain way for certain jobs etc. They are first and fore most droving dogs, and yard dogs, yes they can gather to..... but it is driving big mobs that they excel at (when you get a good one). So a man with 100 sheep, on a ring fenced, stock fenced farm of maybe 60-100 acres......... who needs to move / work his sheep maybe once a week or so...... will have a bored and not very good Kelpie.
