I would be interested to see some to be fair, I’ve always had a bit of an urge to get a staff for bushing as I just like them. But being honest over the years I’ve found that mostly it’s the standard boring option which works best ?
-
Im not knocking it, but its like anything else. If I had a spaniel working cover and bashing to lurchers and wanted to breed a litter of terrier x spaniel for the same job, i could put my hands on a number of good cover working terriers, if i had to find a wheaten used for that purpose. . . . . id struggle. And from what I've seen, most things you'd be bushing, doesn't require a heavy dog to do the job. I guess what I'm saying is it would probably work, but what would it add, to a bushing dog, that another easier to source terrier wouldn't?
-
Im intrigued by the 'job' side of it. Are you getting paid? And if so is it on catches or as a retainer ?
-
I dont really know what they would add? I guess the logic of breeding most spaniel x terrier litters, is to combine the hunting ability of those two breeds. Does a wheaten hunt much? Does anyone use them for it? I guess it would add more bite and crunch to the pups, but how much do you need in a cover dog? Be interesting to see some photos. Ive got a patterdale here id like to put to a spaniel.

I couldn’t give two shits what folk choose to sell or buy pups from. What I do care about is all of the low life c***s stealing dogs to cash in on it!

It does make me laugh a bit. . . I get that £1000 for a terrier or lurcher pup is madness. But what are they actually worth? Sure lots get gifted, but that doesn’t mean it has no value. I don’t think on today’s day and age anything up to £500 is that excessive. Thinking about what folk piss money away on and what it costs to run the dogs anyway....... an extra couple hundred quid on a pup is neither here nor there. It costs me about £100 quid every time I fill my truck up, I just put four new tyres on my truck at about £100 quid a tyre ...... Stuff costs money, that’s life,

What I’m saying is if you stuck them pups on for £200 then every peddler will be falling over themselves to call you. As for vouched for members - I’ve seen plenty of folk on here vouching for men and dogs they’ve never actually met, or met once or twice. Im not defending those breeding with money in mind. But it’s a tricky thing to get right! Not everyone has a big enough circle to home pups work folk you genuinely know.
-
Thing is, if you’ve got pups and not got homes and have to advertise .... what do you do, put them on pre lived etc, for £200........ what’s going to happen?

Fantastic stuff mate, funnily enough was watching the new ones last night for the first time. Good footage and great dogs as ever, nice to see that the big lad is a producer as well as a performer. Happy hunting!

If you find the spaniel I’ll provide the terrier ?
-
The collie ? She won’t be getting bred I don’t think mate, not for a while anyway, but it’s been a good chat!
-
Yes mate tried to line her and AI her a little while before I lost her and she didn’t take. We have one sister left and that’s the future. And luckily my friends have been incredible and my kennels have been filled up for me with a couple of good prospects which I’ve started this season.
-
Like i said, I try not to talk/think about it too much. But she walked into the vets for something, was put under and had a reaction to the anaesthetic and had a cardiac arrest. Absolute f***ing waste of a very good and very well balanced dog.
-
Yes mate. Absolutely broke my heart. Went a bit mental after for a couple of months. Try not to think / talk about it too much as she was my best mate.
-
Another wild card ...... put my terrier dog over a whippet bitch......
-
I’d love to see that dog of yours work one day mate, she sounds very interesting. With regard to my lurcher bitches, I lost a very very good one at the start of this season and it broke my heart, one of the others is old, cranky and going half blind and the other is young and currently only starting her career. She’s also built like a brick shit house ?
-
Half and half, dogs and bitches. To be honest one has caught about 8 this season, one 2 and others none ? Decent mooching dogs, but in some spots I go, I might as well be carrying a banner ? Thinking at least two of them should never see the light of day in public. That whippet I haw was another league on rabbits.

Lots of ppl watch hunting videos of various types on the net. Lots seem willing it subscribe any contribute a bit of cash to allow the videos they enjoy watching to be made. I personally don’t but some do. The lad is working his dogs and showing us. Half the folk knocking him, I’m not even sure they have dogs, let alone go out or show us ? -
I’ve got a few ? It’s more just musing. Thinking a whippet might be the answer anyway ?
-
Morton. You’re a massive insufferable bellend. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a hunting post from you.....

Size comparison. The black busher is about 9/10 months.
