  1. Sorry Gav but I missed four rabbits with ball, only just mind! It's become apparent I think I need just a pinch more powder, maybe up from 55 to 60 grains. It just wasn't going consistent from shot to shot. Two rabbits were 40yds and I was just under them, it was a miracle the ball's didna bounce into them. Anyway, I am nearly there. Turning to shot I got a good eating bunny. And here is a video, watch yer data, it's 7min plus! U.
  2. Well I am a little confused, that's not difficult for me I know but the one I think I missed I have not seen again! It is the same area and one of these could be it but it seemed shorter legged than these ? Anyway, these three are now converted conservationists ? U.
  3. Only shot six so far. Will try to take a bunny later and save the rest. I will acquire a mold some day now I know it's worth it. Thank you very much Gav? U.
  4. Just got the third from the same patch last night's two came from. Got there before moon rise and spotted her at 90 yards just as I was by a handy gate post. Easy peasy. She was next to a pheasant pen! WMR again. U.
  5. 40! Are they being dropped on you? Well done by the way. U.
  6. No, that's me, and I ain't a girl ? Lol. Yes she was, the info I got was it's a bigg'n. U.
  7. Been dropping the shot squirrels in one area for fox's. It's been quiet for a while but the friendly locals give me the information I need when they see some activity so back out tonight with the WMR. First shot was 75 yards or less. A large vixen shot across the ribs. She ran about forty yards before piling up. The second was a young dog at 50 yards. Straight down. I called one down to 30yards but a hedge was between us and he rumbled me ? I had four sightings, one vocal contact so two out of five ain't so bad. I think they are in some maize, might be
  8. Got chance to test Gavs balls this afternoon! That sounds all wrong!! The balls Gav kindly cast and sent me I mean. I used an old sign that's lay in the grass for years. Take a look and I will explain. I was aiming for the P at 30yds. The two shots close to the P and the shot just above them two were the best load chain today. The high one was the aiming, I was seeing to much barrel and the following two responded perfectly to my adjusted hold. The other three were a different load and unsatisfactory. In saying that the sign easily represents a small deers c
  9. When they are not interested in the lips I get my wallet out. It squeals real loud if I try to open it. Works every time. U.
  10. So that's what they use, I thought I recognize the taste! U.
  11. As you said it, " you never heard of". I have witnessed it many times and not incomplete penetration, bullets completely failing to enter a chest cavity. I ain't going to get in a debate over it, I am recalling my experiences. A 250 in my opinion is a long range small pest gun in this country, in fact the parent cartridge the 250/3000 Savage would be a much better foxing round!
  12. To be honest my limited (4years) experience with 22/250 was disappointing! We had bullet failure from several weights and types on fox's below 150yds via shallow wounds. By 300 yards bullet integrity returned. The cartridge was developed for shooting prairie dogs, small rodents. It is beyond most Brits to comprehend the huge prairie dog towns and the damage and disease they can inflict on a ranch. That aside we had much better success rate on fox at normal distances once we brought the 250 down to 223 performance! Ackley is correct, velocity does kill. However to assum
  13. Don't let an ember go down the fuse hole!
  14. Thanks mate, good information. Still in two minds with it all. U.
  15. Actually you could eat up to the hole! Unfortunately it also struck the stomach! I just used the back legs and saddle. It was a good job there was plenty of wet grass!!
  16. Thank you very much.....I will get in touch near the time....if I may. Thank you ?
  17. Oh yes I do, I didn't mention the one I missed! Thanks mate ?
  18. I got home from work today not feeling to good, headache, stiff neck, aching all over, probably a touch of meningitis knowing my luck! But my little, well ok, fat Face lit up when I see this little parcel full of .625" ball ? Our very own Gav from the outer isle's cast me 27# for me to try in my .63" trade gun, how cool is that? Thank you very very much Gav, I can not wait to try them. PM inbound. U.
  19. Just had to get out with Bessy and those huge balls. I was after a rabbit and sadly there was very few. I was on land that usually is crawling with rabbit but I struggled to see any! It was sad and thought after today I shall leave them alone. Anyway eventually and after a few miles I found one to stalk. I got down to 27yds and levelled Bessy on the unsuspecting buck rabbit. I had renewed the pan powder just prior as it had got damp but although the fan flashed quick there was an unusual fizz as it fused through the flashhole slower than normal. I followed through
  20. Yes mate, I used their subies yesterday. They a superb.
  21. If shooting and or hunting was severely restricted or banned I would return to the bow and go underground, off the radar. If one is considered a criminal but is commiting no real crime then one may as well become a criminal! Heck, druggies get away with it!
