  1. Actually, decades ago I experimented with 22 solids for hunting with and eley standard and club were the best. Many tests seem to show a trend of the bullet wanting to tumble in the victim and they worked reasonably well. Pretty much all other brands seem to zip through other than head shots.. U.
  2. HV through a mod is not as noisy as WMR or CF.
  3. Says 1280 on the box I think..... If you see some eley grab them!
  4. 38grn. I tried the 31grn hypers years ago and was not impressed but that was a different rifle!
  5. What a shot, 102 paces (rested) aim on. Got a couple of squirrels too. Why folk dislike HV ammo I will never know ! U.
  6. Just blood filled the ear then congealed. Quite normal.
  7. Yes, I hate crows with a passion.
  8. Der yer know, I can't remember....smk b3 thingy. I call it twang bang and smoke. Atvb.
  9. They are ?. Atvb.
  10. I wasn't expecting that! Only went for a stroll with the dog and twang bang and smoke but I dropped two crows! TB&S likes the eley wasps I bought at weekend. Just goes to show lol. U.
  11. So tell me about the scope, what does it do? U.
  12. The federal WMR test is a good result. Off hand shooting at 100 yards and 150 yds revealed good accuracy, not quite on par with the hornady offering but still very good. Later I called a fox in. From 100 to 60 yds. It collapsed to the shot in a front facing shot. I wanted to see how deep the large light hollow points penetrated so performed an autopsy. About 8" after entering the lower neck, smashing the collar bone and neck vertebrae. Interesting though was that the jacket had held onto lead and not separated. That's good! Better buy some more soon!
  13. With cages get the bladder out of a fox and put it inside. They will feel safer. When I was foxing alot my coats stunk of fox, I have had them walk past my feet a few times!
  14. Ok so testing today was a troublesome do for the 22 HV rounds. A right to left 10mph+ gusting wind was going to hamper things. The target was a 5" stone in earth to catch bullets missed. All shot at what looks like 100 yards offhand. The federal game shoks put three out of five on the stone. This matches my favourite HV round eley HV HP very closely. The CCI velocitors failed to connect! Alot of power but I would not be able to count on them for Charlie! I shot some CCI at 50 yards or there abouts and they are useable although higher than I am comfortable with without
  15. Yes, I have used them before. Actually, I have always rated CCI ammunition for decades now.
  16. Hey, your better at that than shooting! ?
  17. Called in my local and found he had no eley HV HP! But wait! He did have one box of federal game show 22 HP HV ( I love an excuse to experiment) and some CCI velocitors. And and and some federal 22 WMR 30grn Speer TNT's! Been wanting to try them for ages! And and a cap holder for my caplocks. But best of all....a tin of eley wasps, yes eley wasps, no not the new poor copies, eley's. Perfect for my little Chinese delight of an air rifle, twang bang and smoke, just like when I were a lad ? U.
  18. It's the new VHD as well now, imported from China I believe. I suspect it's also being spread deliberately by certain land owners!
  19. Where ever you can or it's needed. I if possible would build the stock to the action. Although it is a good stiff receiver do try to not cause a high point or spot. The recoil lug is purely for recoil, it doesn't matter if it doesn't bottom out in the inletting, so I would shim out any gap in the direction of recoil. Sorry if I sound condescending, I am not being. I too go for the simple fixes too, some get all tied up about these things, which is fine but not for me if I can help it. U.
