The ground is always hard here and the running dogs get this happening a fair bit a few days at the beach does the trick Thanks Trev just ordered two pair, our running dogs most frequent injury over here, normally just swim them for a few days at the beach. Dont seem to bother them much even when they rip them off, tough dogs it dont slow them down much. got a video I put up last month, Zip tore one pretty bad she worked the rest of the day with it without any complaint.

I bought one recently, a ready made working Jill from a line that I like, she was supposed to be pregnant but had a phantom, not that I'm worried about it, I can always put her in this year. I was just happy he sold her to me, she is a fantastic worker and a nice type ( dark polecat) paid good money for her, with no regrets.

I never really have trouble selling my Kits, most are sold to people I know who work them, or to people that have had me recommended to them, sold all my kits this year for $70 ech and I wouldn’t part with a Woking ferret unless it was part of a trade. You can find a lot cheaper on gumtree for $20 but that’s a lucky dip, at least with mine people know what they are getting, I think it’s a fair price all things considered.

Always liked the Wales countryside, if the locals could speak English, that would be nice -
Wanna bet we got this little fella a couple of weeks ago ( Mako)

As enticing as wearing immobilising amounts of clothing, and being stung by nettles sounds, I would never leave a place that has the adrenalin pumping anticipation, of sticking your hand in a hole where your ferret is fighting something not knowing if it was a potentially fatal snake bite waiting, not to mention the flesh eating spider bites LOL.

Hey guys went out with a mate of mine Mark the other day to one of my permissions, Mark brought along the shotgun and four of his ferrets, I brought a handful of ferrets and, two dogs. We got a few rabbits with the gun, and the nets, caught up with Pete and Paul (property owners) whiles we were there, another very enjoyable day out in the field.

Cheers mate, I have quite a few property’s in that area now ,and will be there for about the next month, plenty to go at that’s for sure. I will be shooting over the burrows tomorrow on a big warren that can’t be netted, doing another one with the longnets that has plenty in it, looking forward to it. I will take the camera. PS nets are doing the job mate thanks

Got a phone call from Kathy a now new permission, asked if I could come help her and her neighbours rabbit problem, I thought this sounds like a perfect opportunity. This year I brought in a new Buck to Breed with , and to try improve my line of ferrets, I kept three Jill kits from my best workers, two from Willow, and one from my B.E.W Jill Grace, unfortunately one of Willows got sick and was pts, that left me with Stumpy, and Tilly I have been looking forward to taking them out and seeing how they would go, last week I started stumpy and he worked straight of the bat, Impressed with his

Sirblessed replied to Steveswans1987's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Zip now 2 ½ Managed for the first 12 months ferreting, then started in the light Ongoing, substantial injuries = 0 Used all year round, usually hard ground 2- 4 times a week Rabbits caught - lost count Proof is in the pudding, time will tell! JMO -
Not line bred as such, just separate litters with the same Sire and a related Dam, The Dam of the pup has a non related Sire Zip is 3/4 whippet 1/4 Deerhound/Greyhound Fleet the pup is 7/8 Whippet 1/8 Deerhound/Greyhound We call them whippet x stags. I won't be breeding them
-
It's the Zips (the older dog now 2 1/2 year old) 1/2 Brother, they have the same Sire, and Grandmother of this pup is Zips Dam So yes they are related.

Last time I went out with the light, my brown bitch took a rabbit off Zip after being caught, was on her way back and flushed another sitter out of the grass, she took off after it with the other rabbit still in her mouth, didn’t catch the rabbit and dropped the one she had, so we lost them both. Bloody dogs! It was amusing to watch. Good news was we did manage to bag a few.

The worst part is not knowing where all the holes are, have to take it easy, and watch your footing, as I found out the hard way again not long ago, shoulder is still recovering from the fall LOL

At least when I'm making the videos, I have an excuse for talking to myself

Headed out to Des’s place today to try a couple of the young ferrets I bred this year, I got there a little bit late and it got hot pretty fast,. We did manage to get a few, and young Stumpy worked pretty well, I didn’t use Tilly will take her out next trip. At the end of the video I gave young Fleet ( My New Pup) a dead rabbit I was p[retty happy with the interest he showed. Take it easy guy’s bye for now.

2 Jills & 1 Litter in the Same Cage?
Sirblessed replied to hideandshoot's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
The main reason I separate them Ken, is so I know who's is who's they steal each others every now and then just makes it easy to keep track of them. If you have a court its never a problem, I have seen litters get eaten, when they are all in the same small area, with only one nest box. -
2 Jills & 1 Litter in the Same Cage?
Sirblessed replied to hideandshoot's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I always separate mine, but have seen many people who don’t, the breeding box down the bottom sounds like a good idea, you may see the odd disappearance but generally the Jill will protect them.
