  1. My springer cross collie hates the water and will only go in if he can have his feet on solid ground too.
  2. Getting out with the dog,doing a bit of target practice with the air rifle ready for next year and maybe bringing on a pup but generally enjoying being out without multiple layers on.
  3. Just set 16 under a hen and another 13 in the incubator so hopeful for a good hatch of them.Still laying regularly getting about 7 eggs from the 3 trios everyday.
  4. Probably not the most unconventional but my springer collie is getting to be a decent ferreting dog,getting the hang of marking and running bolters.
  5. Right a few weeks back I got my hob vesoctomised,waited the specified 6 weeks then put him in with my 4 jills.All good and all came out of season.However now 2 are getting rounder every week,could they be pregnat both have no change in behaviour or feeding.

  7. Went for a different walk today along the river.There was lot new goslings out on the river from the feral greylag hybrid geese,these geese are growing in number and have started crossing with the canada geese.There was also a pair of eygptian geese and a pair of barnacle geese with them.the flood water had brought up a fair amount of debris including a large carp and the dog found a swan carcass.

  9. Nice looking birds them.Are you breeding them this year?
  10. What size is the hen,bantam or large fowl?
  11. Only got 1 broody at the minute and she already sat tight so will have to use the incubator.I will probably take the first few eggs then leave the hens to sit naturally.
  12. Checked the aviarys today and found the pheasants have started to lay.1 lady Amherst,2 yellow golden and 3 red goldens so far hopefully a few more to come then the incubator will be fired up for the first batch.
  13. That's what I thought should have been done.It's been moved now and I might get abit of practice trying to stuff him before trying on anything I want to keep.
  14. Like I said this is one of a few found over the past few weeks,obviously the same shooter not taking the time to dispose of the animals shot.
  15. I found this guy,shot through the chest,where I have permission to ferret and use the air rifle.This is one of a few carcasses Found in this area. I was wondering whether you take your kills with you or leave it where it drops?
  16. Depends on preference try and give both a go and see which is easiest for you to use a go from their.
  17. Try Cob or hubbards they grown well and produce a nice sized bird for meat alternatively try light Sussex if you want a more traditional bird,takes longer to mature though..Chicks or hatching eggs can be bought cheaply enough.
  18. Good going there mate.Always helps if there is something to look at while waiting for the bolts.

  22. Some pictures of rats trapped and shot over the last couple weeks.Some larger ones in the lot too.The older fen traps are still going well after years of use.

  24. A oxford cockerel I had.Still got a hen of him here so hoping to keep the line going.
