  1. I was a petrol pump attendant. I have always been interested in cars and I though this would be a way in to the industry. It was just exploitation sadly. Taught me about human nature though. The garage owners also sold cars, new and second hand. And they were merciless. Wouldn't touch a used car unless they could get a clear £1000 profit, and would say things like 'just fit for scrap' to trade ins. But what really upset me was, there was a car crash just down the road, the driver staggered bleeding (just minor thankfully) to the garage. But they wouldn't let him in, or call an ambulance. A
  2. I missed my first, standing, shot. So I leaned on a round bale feeder and got it at about 30 yards, which is the zero range for this setup. Weihrauch HW35 1983. Hawke Endurance 3-10 x 44, home made muzzle weight, RWS Super Field .22. 30 yards appx If I ever sell my guns, I will keep this one back. It is my favourite. A plain Jane in comparison to a Pro Sport but nicely functional.
  3. I have one of these But have only ever used the strim mode. I have to keep tightening the bolts as they shake loose and the choke lever is in a stupid place - you knock it out of position when pulling the start cord. But... it has been brilliant. It replaced a Titan Petrol strimmer that has a twat to start and my second in warranty. Make sure you wear a face shield as it kicks up loads of debris. If I was buying a chainsaw however, it would have to be Stihl or Husqvana. Had my fill of all the rest.
  4. I think once they have had success, they will be trying it on till the sticky end
  5. The victim was a Muscovy female. She had moved out of the run and was nesting under a lawnmower bucket next to a veg patch. Still in a fenced off area but not securely fenced. I think she had wandered off up the field when she was jumped. So not a big surprise. This is all that remains The nest has also been raided. Just a few empty shells left and duck down scattered. Not sure if this will have been the fox or rats. So on high alert now. Have been walking round the run. Will probably pin down sheets of wire netting till I can get some proper defences.
  6. Can't be as it was on a fence. I will go round taking more poo pictures for your benefit. Try and get some fresh ones this time.
  7. I get a lot of Jackdaws but unless they have been chewing on an old mattress, I can't see it being theirs. Jackdaws don't go for rodents do they? Plus, an owl has a bigger bum.
  8. I use H&N Field Target trophy in mine. I did have an original blue tin of Wasps, but like people say, Wasps are like a box of assorted chocolates, everyone different.
  9. 50p a day per sheep?50p cheap then?? You want to expand your flock into Gloucestershire BlackDog? For that price, I will even provide all the shepherding for you as well, although you must pay for drugs etc. 50p a day is £3.50 a week. That's f***ing extortion! For sheep I'd pay no more than £60/acre per annum, or 75p per head per week. That's the average around my locality for sheep. Cows are about a tenner more. Horses, well that becomes a monthly rate if you can include a water supply and some kind of shelter. So that's a bowser or IBC and a wagon back then. Also, the tenan
  10. This one's mine. Not pulled it apart yet. This is a MK6 with a Tasco 4x40 scope on a Sportsmatch one piece set back mount. I bought it some years back. I had coveted a friend's when I was starting out with a .22 Meteor. In fact I think me buying his Meteor helped pay for his upgrade. Very, very light compared to a Pro Sport.
  11. I know this is off topic again, here is another gate shot. Isn't this a hunting forum? Sorry I go mental if I catch people climbing over gates - then having to adjust the hinges. So I put a rudimentary stile next to the gate. Bit difficult with a dry stone wall though.
  12. Thanks a lot Rat Face, I will let you know. Always nervous about my birds having an eppy. They don't like dogs at all.
  13. that BSA is a nice looking rifle and obviously performs really well. How come the BSA fans don't bleat on all the time about how good they are, unlike gaystate and the HW100 club?
  14. Then there were some live ones, but one was nobbled with a low velocity, large calibre projectile, aka garden fork and brick bouncing off its head for good measure. After a large bonfire, we dug over the area and it now looks like this. No doubt there will be more critters under those sheds though the foundations are pretty solid. Should have made an indent though. The piece of pipe has been a baiting station, with a stone reducing the entrance side to keep out hedgehogs. Want to stop using poison as so many other creatures are affected. The food for the hens is locked away at
  15. Rats have been plaguing me for a while now. I lot 7 ducklings to them last year and there has been a lot of activity in the duck run this year. Been out with my air rifle but low numbers only. So, back to basics. Rats need food and harbourage. The young lady and myself, double gloved and pulled apart the rat hotel. This was my dry store of pallets but has been a haven for rodents.
  16. Hello guys Ok, what did this come from? Could it be an owl? It is pretty big with fur in it.
  17. Get ready for the tide of opinions...... Both great so you won't go wrong whichever you choose. TX is generally better from new whereas the HW benefits from running in or a tune up. The TX is slightly lighter and the stock more supportive and better looking and finished. Bluing usually better as well. HW easier to load and potentially bomb proof. I've had both but prefer the TX, or get a Pro Sport as that is even better and you see these as cheap second hand. Pesky
  18. I've got two, both calibres: 1 & 2 I got my .22 Pro Sport because I couldn't settle with .177. After a lifetime of using .22 It just didn't work for me. No problems with the cocking levers on mine. My only gripe is that I usually load left handed (from using an HW35) and the loading aperture has a right handle bias. Gets me almost every time. .22 are easier to load, especially in cold weather, and find in the dark. My .22 Pro Sport has become my main gun. Lovely to handle. The stock on mine has been modded by a previous owner to make it ambidextrous I have had dalliances with a
  19. Don't forget the castle! Worth running round with your wooden sword
  20. I had that problem. Not enough pressure and it is not a kill, too much and it's strawberry jam. Jam is better than suffering though. You will get the knack.
  21. That is some weapon. Thanks for keeping your posts really interesting. Do you have a back up for a mercy shot? Or is that what the other end is for? best regards
  22. And another thing... All my shooting is pretty much on the level. Not many trees round here. But even I know that shooting targets in trees relies on another skill and angle compensation. We don't just point and shoot. If i ever get the chance to shoot in a wood, I will be doing loads of practice before I go for anything live.
  23. Even John Darling used to practice and he was the No1 airgunner. I practice as much as I can. And.. especially as I have a varied arsenal. My HW35 shoots differently from my Pro Sport and my Airsporter is different again. So I have to reacquaint the hold and shot placement. Then there's environment changes. Shooting in the Duck Run is really sheltered and short range. So zeroed at 10 yards, it holds well. Shooting in an open field, well, sudden gusts of wind, or steady directional gale, or if I am lucky no wind at all. In my field the zeroed range is about 20 yards, then I adjust accordin
