  1. Past hour
  2. When we just got on with it !…….was there ever a phrase that encapsulated the traditional British mentality so well as “Just get on with it” !
  3. Some Nordic country’s have forest school and being out in nature is integrated into the curriculum
  4. On a job with a some rope access techs a few years ago, couple of them trying to ‘out danger’ each other telling of the various bridges, masts etc. they’d working on. I showed them that video with Dibnah swinging about in the wind at the top of a 200’ chimney in a bosun’s chair.., not a safety harness or ‘two points of attachment’ in sight. We bred men different in those days, granted a few had the ‘half a day out with the undertaker’ but removing the risk from everything dulls the wits and creates complacency. That’s the price I suppose.
  5. He is, but he is the nearest we have to pond weed that is even vaguely on our side. jmho of course
  6. Seen a couple of the Gerry Cinnamon ones, Americans are on a different planet so not sure it even registers the same. I’m not even a fan of him but watching him on TV at TRNSMT a few years ago is maybe as jealous as I’ll get of the young ones today. Taps aff getting mad with it in the sunshine with all your mates singing “here we, here we, here we fcking go”!
  7. Most unbelievable part of this is that flats in Murton are now £60k i remember going there to view a two bed terrace that was £15k.
  8. Some schools over here do youth fishing clubs,Ontario does learn to fish and tackle share programs as well as school fishing contests, lots of schools do archery some do hunting, the UK has lost its way. Fish locker I like his content, now he is getting a few trips away each year.
  9. Those jocks all look the same to me .
  10. Today
  11. Having a veg growing show here looks like monty Don might pop down
  12. Any good running and loyal vehicle is better then nothing does not matter what brand at least it gets you to A TO B public transport is not good at all
  13. Im with Jukel on this...I believe Trump is dangerous,no different to the rest of the pond weed...
  14. I ended up letting a mate have her and he used to go round the shows in the summer and I remember seeing a picture of her with my mate on the NLRC stand at one show so could have ended up in the shooting news mate.
  15. remember those days well I only had rabbit dog's, but a few local lads had the merlin type dogs.
  16. Strangely enough I have a lot of time for Galloway, don’t get me wrong I fundamentally disagree with most of his views?, ideology ?, world view ?……but some of it I do agree with and I also respect that he seems fairly honest about his beliefs no matter what the cost to himself politically or reputation wise. I have the same sort of opinion of Corbyn funny enough……he is a disease but he is a fairly honest disease.
  17. I did eventually outcross the type to a saluki greyhound. I sometimes wonder what the offspring might have made put to a pure saluki. I reckon that's how the merlin eve types came about by lads crossing good hardy knockabout lurchers to the ultimate running dog the saluki for single handed hare catching.
  18. That dog with the white feet looks familiar, tats. Did you have pics of him in the shooting news?
  19. Struggle to get a small petrol van, I tried and couldn't find anything decent. Ended up with a diesel Berlingo Cheers, D.
  20. I greatly respected a foreman I had once. He had developed an excellent way of managing men. Whenever there was a horrible job to be done. He would say " come on lads. I never ask you to do something I wouldn't do myself". And he was as good as his word. He would do the horrible jobs just to set an example. Poloticians don't do that.
  21. As George Galloway puts it .... "Supermarket sweep"
  22. Yep, understand all that mate, but as you have acknowledged the point is they are all poncing off someone and justifying it……he could have worked his own way through as most have to do but he didn’t ! Ive been watching “Band of Brothers” again on the telly and there was a great line in it that is wisdom I think for people in positions of leadership, one officer is talking to a new officer and he says “Never put yourself in a position where you take from these men” Thats called integrity and it’s sadly lacking in politics…..my point is, don’t bother looking for it because you won’t f
  23. I get it. But I guess the idea of sending Skinner to uni was so that that he could better represent them in Parliament. If you leave school at 14 ( I know we left at 13 due to circumstances beyond our control lol) then standing up in parliament with a working class accent and a rudimentary education would be very intimidating. So the education was paid for so he could compete on an equal basis. Skinner became a bit of a pantomime turn. I didn't really rate him. Eventually neither did his constituents and he failed to be elected last time round.
  24. My pal back in England runs a thing for kids with his fishing club every year where they take a group of kids and show them the ropes, the do’s and don’t’s, fish care, skills everything like that…..wonder if there are any clubs near you doing the same mate ?……may be worth investigating ?
  25. That's the reality and the truth mate. I have suffered with sciatica over the years and had to book two days off this week with a flare up the first thing I did was take a few more co coadamol to numb the pain.
