Probably Filipinos Juk,Thais aren’t a known seafaring race whereas Filipinos pay the POEA in Manila to get a visa for UK boats.

Love winding the plumbers up. I will shout look out the plumbers opening his tool box, just call that £40, oh oh the lid of the lunch box has been taken off another£40. Phones ringing that’s another£80 for answering it plus a call out of £40 . -

No I mean know the skippers. Scary feckers who have no moral compass and no or little fear. Some Thais actually swam for the shore to escape the conditions on the ship. Their abuse was proven in court, but the skipper got off with a slap on the wrist.

You wouldn't have given them a job in the first place over your own. Throw them and the skipper over

I have met a couple of Filipinos working on Brit boats Juk,they have it cushy compared to one young Filipino I heard of working on a Panamanian registered boat, his first trip raped by a shipmate and thrown overboard, horrific. as for the guys you know they can walk away anytime they want, they aren’t true slaves, they paid agency fees in their homelands to get a work permit for the UK.

Sounds like a decent skipper, I’d have f****d them over the side ! lol

I think it’s particularly apt today of all days to mention the millions of young men who gave up their freedom, gave up seeing their families and in many cases, gave up their lives , to volunteer to fight for their countries and came back, not to a “country fit for heroes, but to a country that was indifferent to them. Spending a year or two in a “soft” prison for a white collar crime, and coming out and still having access to your ill gotten gains seems a good deal in comparison…. Cheers.

I came to the conclusion religion is the exercise of ultimate power, which often leads to sexual abuse and the extortion of money. I go with the belief that if there is a power out there, you are best communicatiing with or feeling that that power in the natural world. In the seas , the woods and the mountains. How's that for today's thought for the day? Lol

I never “got it” either in all honesty Juk,I heard a few stories of people dying in meditation, one monk tried to explain to me that most western peoples minds are cluttered with inconsequential thoughts and meditation declutters and defrags the mind.but he was a bit of a let-down in the end as he asked could I get him a beer.

I watch that guy Leo,I saw the doe he got with the pistol crossbow. I got some Zwicky heads yesterday and shot them at a cushion from 20 yards,it feels good and shoots where I aimed. The bow is fine but I am taking it into a bow shop across the river to get it tuned up Mel.All new bows benefit from a tuning, the guy I bought it off didn’t get it tuned he just flung a few arrows straight from the box, taking it into an archery dedicated store will tighten groups up.I have a bow in the UK that was a flagship model for Mathews and was just over a grand when I got it,this one feels alm

Not sure but it’s actually quite frightening if you think you are going in the nick. It’s probably the only thing worth getting locked up for is ££££ gain. I understand the fella going for tax money that’s a piss take and we’re getting screwed over by the govt. Working our bollox to get raped

I'm a bit cynical Mack. Would the young lad really have received enlightment? Whatever that is? He would be more likely be loopy because of sensory deception and no human contact. But if he did, or thinks he did, good luck. There's millions of ways to live life. Most don't get the luxury of choice. But if that is his chosen path. Fairplay.

I don't agree. There are modern slaves in the fishing industry. In the old days if you were a trawlerman, you got a share of the catch and the skipper got two shares. An ordinary bloke could make serious money as long as they didn't blow it on drugs or drink etc. Then the skippers realised they could employ foreigners for a tenner an hour. Then a fiver an hour. Then a few quid a trip. I know of foreigners being beaten up, constantly bullied and physically abused. One skipper used to throw the few quid he owed them onto the deck to humiliate them. Others received no money at all. Some were inju
