billhardy 2,341
This the thing with dry no matter how good the quality. ,some animals especially those reared on just raw, y'all find soaked will do. Them better ,teeth a good car ass or two a week will keep them clean . Nothing dehydrates a hound quicker than dry and those that go ta water and drink excessive amounts will eventually suffer with digestion or some stomach problems pancreatitis bloat etc.raw the best but we know some folks life style don't suit raw.soak the dry they all soak in the greyhound kennels .atb bunnys. Somewhereyournot 1,117
I think the food with grains in which ain't good for dog soak alot. That grain free stuff I feed doesn't soften or soak up anything. Quote Link to post
trenchfoot 4,243
Beet pulp is amongst the worst ingredients when it comes to absorbing water. Anyone who has soaked dried sugar beet for horse feed will know how much it expands when wet. 1 Quote Link to post
Saltmoon 2,208
If I soak it rarely to be honest I chuck boiling water on before I go for a walk with them and it's done and cooled down for when I get home. But I just have 2 massive water bowls in the kennel and feed them dry. And same for the pup in the house 1 Quote Link to post

Like said it's rare that I do it but I have in past and I've always put boiling water over it never a problem with them but if there is a possibility of problems I won't do it again Quote Link to post
Boristheblade 1,367
Always thought boiling water was a no no over dry food Yer I was told by a friend who's a vet it's a big no no as kills what ever nutrients are left in the dry food. Dogs will lose condition and gloss to there coat within weeks if keep boilin kibble. 1 Quote Link to post
