🤔I reckon a lot of us change as we become older,...I certainly have.... Its a natural part of advancing into old age, nothing to be ashamed of,.. but,.. it does take some getting used to..🙄

you might be right , but the way i see it, if the old dogs in question  have deff give 100% in the hunting field  all there life , i think it only fair to the animal to show some compassion to it . do

Its very hard to watch dogs and people get old and fade even harder as oneself is ageing, walking past a mirror looking into it and thinking who's that old fecker staring at is also hard lol

I'm sorry for your loss Bird. It's the hardest thing in life.

I do remember your posts and your pics of Bryn. One in particular where he was jumping a gate with a pheasant. I also remember when you got Buck. I'm glad he's done well by you.

Thanks mate, yeh old Bryn was good finding stuff in cover, was good rabbit dog. Old Buck been great lamp dog for me took everything in the lamp I put him on, and being honest it nice that I finished with good lurcher like him deff, 2 old buggers together lol. Like said on here I might get couple none ped racing dog pups for the future, just something mooch about with, I had a little bitch in 80s before, but Buck OK as yet no rush. And thanks about my wife, it hit me and my son very hard, having somebody in your life 40s is very hard when there not there. I will move back to south staffs, from where I came from eventually, and try to start again, prob be hard at my age 71, but got keep moving forward the best I can.  Ray

It's definitely an age thing . I was lucky in the past when my lurchers got to an old age my best mate had them on his small holding living out the rest of their day's getting walked everyday and well kept. The old lurcher i lost last June at 16 and she was not the best lurcher i have owned by a long chalk but was not one bit of trouble and very easy to live with and was more of a companion on a walk local. To say i don't miss the old dog would be an understatement.

Mate Ive not long put a 14 year old dog down and if he was fit and healthy he'd be here another 14, my earlier post was about people who will keep a dog alive when its deaf and blind and in obvious discomfort, I dont think you'd find many of them in the working dog game, perhaps I should have made it clearer in my earlier post

I’ve got a def jack here now and it’s a f****n pain on walks sometimes but most of the time I turn round he’s there so not too bad, he will be around for a lot longer yet as he has always done right by me and given me so much sport over his life time so I will return the favour and give him what I owe him
