Brexit. Success? Too early to judge? Disaster?

When we joined it was the Common Market!   In principle there was nothing wrong with that, but it developed into the Federal Republic of Europe and we lost control of loads of things.

We still comply with the ECHR and many other EU things, but for the purists out means out!

I never did, and still don't have any particular issue with, a Common Market (dependent on specific rules) it can make a lot of sense!

The Common Market was all about the movement of fresh produce, Nothing about the movement of people, That was something The United States of Europe came up with at a later date, The movement of fresh produce and indeed other goods could be just as easily sorted via a trade agreement between the UK and Europe without the need to be a member, This country in Theory should have the ability to control its own borders and its own Laws, Its the establishment that is stopping this, Pigs at the trough.

While the ECHR is in place in its current form you can't do chit about returning these people, what really gets my goat Francie is the minute you suggest ditching the ECHR a certain leaning way sort start screaming that your going to have the human rights of ugandan if you do that and that all human rights would be thrown out the window, The ECHR of today is nothing like it was originally attended to be its unfit for purposes in its current form so it's either  reform it to make it work for individual countries,  good luck with that lol  or ditch it and create our own, one that works for us.

You only have to look at what happened to Truss, Voted in as prime minister by her own party members then removed forty odd days later by the money markets, Pretty much tells you that its not the government running the country,

The Bonds market to be exact, Big pension funds by bonds off the government and then borrow against those bonds to borrow money to buy more bonds off them and so on, they have more influence over government than they should have because of these bonds, have a dig into it mate. There's a name for these bonds, its 3 letters but i can not for the life of me remember it Lol.

Capitalism...where private owners run an economy for profit. Politicians are their bought and paid for gophers. The tories can't even run an economy in the home of the industrial revolution. They don't understand that there's got to be give as well as take. People must have affordable housing, a meritocratic education system, a first class health system and a wage which enables them to buy goodies the capitalist system manufactures. That way they get voted back in again. They continue to f**k up on all those essentials to a decent life.

Starmer is  now crawling to the big money boys asking for patronage and finding out what they will allow him to do if he wins power. It worked for Bliar.

Capitalism is great until they get too greedy and become used to taking the piss out of us. There's degrees of capitalism and there's  "the unacceptable face of capitalism" where people in work cannot afford to pay basic bills. That's the situation we have now imo.

It's always baffled me that many see the EU as a  socialist system when infact its a capitalism + system lol

Was reading this the other day, The house in the picture was for sale in 1937 for £545, If you add in inflation and all the other increases, Then today that house should cost roughly £45000 to purchase, Instead its nearly £450,000. There was a bloke the other day harping on about the top 10% of earners accounting for 54% of tax collected in this country, Trying to justify huge salaries. The problem is those at the bottom of the earning scale are not earning enough to be able to live, never mind pay tax. Perhaps if that had not held the wages at such an artificial low rate for donkeys years by the use of cheap foreign labour, Then that tax bill would be be more evenly distributed, You can not have the best of both worlds or perhaps if your rich you possibly can.

Good post. Wages have been held down by an endless supply of cheap labour. Investment in new technology has also been held back for the same reason. Much of the UK's factories are stuck with old fashioned, sometimes victorian machinery. The tories then moan about the UKs poor productivity. There was a book penned by Patel,Raab and some other tory  low life which described british workers as lazy because of our poor productivity. They didn't mention the amount of cash our competitor governments make available to industry. Nor did they mention the brilliant apprenticeship schemes our European competitors have invested in.

The bare faced effrontery of Patel and Raab, (I think Shapps was also a co author) calling British workers lazy when they have lived  such non productive, parasitic lives themselves beggars belief. Uk workers work longer hours and have poorer conditions than many our European counterparts. We need some French workers over here to show us how to protest!?
