I believe understanding the intricacies of rifle mechanics can vastly improve your shooting accuracy. Have you ever wondered if tweaking small parts could double your precision? Could the secret to better shots be hidden in subtle modifications rather than expensive gear?

Already looking forward to the warmer weather.

Did our yearly trip to the Fraser, was a brutal trip to be fair with it pissing down, cold and windy most of the 4 days we were there. Only had two small salmon and no sturgeon over the first 3 days,

Now your talking my type of talk lad don't get me started on modifications we will be here all day look all joking and jiving around mush if your any type of marksman you'll be shooting with an iron sight for you'll understand the intricacies of the rifle and already tweaked the small parts to double your precision the secret to better shots is learning to hold your breath for long amounts of time and that's all that worked out ....this man here  @Black neck is the one to question about any or all your gun modification needs man's knowledgeable in all fields

There’s over quarter of a million lakes in the province, all that meltwater has to go somewhere.

My last few fishing trips had been underwhelming, for me that is.

A good friend had kindly blagged a couple of free guest tickets for me on a stretch of his club river.

I blanked on the first trip- the river rose six inches during the day but l soldiered-on ,vainly.

He  ,fishing a few hundred yards away had better luck, with a couple of rather good chub.20260315_174830.jpg.bf2fe95eab67b987bc6ac52b39fc7479.jpg

My last trip with him proved a bit better for me in that at least l was saved from total humiliation  by half a dozen little  dace .20260315_174616.jpg.a37b59b1f3c214304ef3ecfdd4260ace.jpg

The lovely blue reel in the picture isn't  mine. I borrowed it from my mate ,who made it himself!

Rather ineptly🙄 l had left mine at home .

Equally ineptly my mate had forgotten his landing net handle          ( must be an age thing😀) so had to improvise with a bank stick .

Once again  we fished a fair way apart so the first l knew of his half hour struggle with this unexpected beauty ( four pound line and trotting gear) was when he sent me this picture. IMG-20260208-WA0000.jpg.58f7e5c63b0c550786aeb0182570471e.jpg

His net and bank stick were trashed mind you!

After these humiliations  l was happy to spend yesterday afternoon ,the last day of the Season, on a bit of local river - the mucky headwaters of the Arun-with  another friend. It was hard going but we managed a few very small chub  and at last knockings l struck lucky with a chunky perch . Not a bad way to end the Season. 20260314_215543.jpg.22bc7b00cb2335391beae6f2e70bc21a.jpg

Good write up Comanche , love the centerpins

Thanks Steve.

As l said my mate made this one himself ,using a cheap Chinese lathe.  Only the anodising was out- sourced.   Clever whotsit even made two interchangeable spools for  it; one with bearings and the one  in the picture  which is a proper centre  pin.  20260212_115741.jpg.869a34028417ad97a5596f3461a94e0e.jpgl felt  a bit honoured that he let me borrow  it🙂
