I know I qgoing to get shit from some sides,  but park coursing is completely different from normal coursing. Its not something I support.....captive hares ran by greyhounds in muzzles isn't my i

Some of the rough coursing amidst the Irish farmlands, sedges, etc is incredibly exciting...I would far rather see the dog hunting his hares in such a natural manner.. Far, far better for me, tha

I've said many times on here over the years that if I want one for the pot, I don't care if it's taken out of the seat or a kick up, but if I'm out for sport, or to test a dog, the hare gets fair law,

Each to their own but a caged hare, let alone a caged Irish hare, (which is  a mountain hare that doesn't turn white), isn't going to be much of a test.

That's my post, just my opinion.

sandy don't you think your maybe being slightly hypocritical...

after all both you and I have said how good a test the iberian hare looks ...with the likes of mC HULL taking the piss....also you yourself have put up vids of park coursing in Spain or Portugal....and the dogs being muzzled and still catching hares..

personally I'm not a fan of park coursing ...but each to there own

So reading my post is it really hypocritical or just an honestopinion?

In the past I've put up lots of videos,  including videos of paddock coursing in Spain and park coursing in Ireland,  doesn't mean I would consider either a decent test. So as I said each to their own but a caged hare......

Ps as to the Irish Scottish hare discussion,  is the Irish is lepus timidus,  we both know it is.

Ibut if the ground in Ireland favours the hare against the dog differently against running in Heather well that's another discussion.

A few lads from my area were invited over to the fens back a few years ago, the lads that invited them was on here. The whole info of the trip is on a thread on here. There dogs did very well, in fact one of their dogs out shone the locals. How many browns did they see before that day, I’m not sure but not many I’d say. You’d have to search for it on here.

they would do ok mate until december kicked in from middle december jan feb you wouldn’t kill one unless you heavy english bred dogs that were descent

some spots on big land were there not run much will hold plenty a soft uns even chrimbo time

I've re read this thread....

you keep using the term "caged"..hare...the Irish lads have told you they are kept in pens and schooled on the ground...they are transported in boxes...it's this that is referenced in the original report ..

with you putting up vids of park coursing in Spain I wrongly assumed you were in favour of this sport....so please forgive me....but you can see how one would think you were a fan..

Irish hare..mountain hare...

I've ran neither so can't comment..have you ran either or both...

your posts read like you are being derogatory towards the Irish hare...hence the Irish lads having a pop at you...

the Irish lads are telling you that it's a good test of a dog..I do know lads from England that have run them that have said they are a good test and completely different to the mountain hare...

after all is said and done I do agree with you with regards to park coursing not being our thing..I think its a poor sport to be honest..and like jiggys original post highlights...it seems is being run in a shoddy maner ...and is doing f**k all good for field sports in general
