The only reason this is getting publicity is that it is very near the race track where the Grand Prix is being held this week end. The storage facility that has been targeted is a storage depot for diesel and Jet-A fuel for the nearby power and desalination plants and Jeddah Airport. The area used to be miles from Jeddah itself, but now urban sprawl has extended all the way up the corniche to this area, and is quite heavily populated. The Houthi's, and indeed, Saddam Hussein, have previously avoided Jeddah because of its proximity to Mecca and Medina. A new shift in the war, perhaps. Cheers.
