Talking of old routines; we saw Ken Dodd at Sheffield around 2009. A few months later there was a radio show on featuring a Ken Dodd show from the 1970's. Other than the income tax gags it was the same show! And people used to go and see him every year.

Took the kids to see him when we were on holiday in Wales about 1987, started about half seven, didn't get out of the place till about quarter to one, was brilliant

A mate of mine from out of town ,had an appointment for his youngster at the Alder hey children's hospital ,he phoned me for directions and took some convincing that I wasn't fuking about when I told him to follow the signs for Knotty ash .

Seen Chubby once and tbh found him not in the same league as Manning its the decision of this council i find worrying when they can dictate who performs in the city if it meets their left wing criteria . Though their is a video emerging on social media of two poundland staff in Sheffield dealing with a smack head shoplifter thats hilarious as one of the lads is a one armed black lad.

Context ?……..Jim visited The Verne and other prisons as part of his work with Care After Combat and Glitter was one of the offenders he spoke to.

Care After Combat also does work with offenders.

The visit was 2 years ago and yet this report is from this year ?…….someone don’t like the things Jim says possibly ?…….I mean, it’s not like people release and write stuff in a way to smear people is it ! Lol

Jim used to live with his parents 3 streets back from me when I was a kid, a little post war prefab modest as they come, he loved a proper bird and is just a normal lad off the plot who made good.

We all used to stand round his Rolls Royce on the way to school and he was never a miserable c**t.

Nah, I ain’t having an insinuation like that I’m afraid, it’s bollocks.

I think that " shock " type of comedy must be very hard to get a laugh from after about 5 minutes listening to it.....i always liked good joke tellers i thought Mike Reid was brilliant years ago......i also like Peter Kay and Micky Flanagan types who just talk about life in a humourous way....havent seen him for a long time but Jasper Carrot was another funny fella......think blue comedians have had their day now though.

I agree , it was of its time , and I wouldn’t go  to see a “ gag Meister “ again .

       The best comedian I ever saw was Billy Connely . My rib cage was sore from laughing so much . I didn’t enjoy the singing though . Other comedians that I’ve enjoyed were Al Murry ( pub landlord) and Frankie Boyle , before he became a lefty lovie , or perhaps he always was one but I didn’t know , but his audience abuse is second to none .

he was very ill with heart problems had surgery to his neck i think it had a stent or two put in it and he had a quadruple bypass.

Billy Connely thats a good shout i never saw him live but nearly popped a lung a few times listening to him even on Youtube,very funny fella.

real funny guy without trying, even when he was with the group the humble bums he played the banjo and wasnt the best he made a mistake would pull a face and say did you manage to spot the deliberate mistake.
