Are you held accountable to your beleifs? 

What makes you think think people have to be accountable to there faith? 

That's between them an whoever,now if someone preaches forth,they need to have an answer for What there preaching,but unless that happens,you can't expect someone to answer to the all knownig FD.

Just my own very humble opinion ,but for many people belief in God is complicated ,it's not a yes \no question ,it would take longer than the reply box on a tinterweb forum to clarify how you feel ,for me personally it's not private or secret how I feel ,it's just not easy to describe in a few dozen words ,

For what it's worth I have a theory that most atheists are against organised religions ( and understandably so )than against the idea of people having a spiritual side .

IME atheists dont feel the need to be against anything mate .It’s just not for them .

I can’t remember ever hearing an atheist preach to masses or go to war off the back of some disagreement .

Religious persons fear them for some reason ,why is beyond me but there tis .

We are usually very well balanced people as am I .

I never realised there was so many different beliefs if I’m honest ,from die hards to passive religious .Never gave it much thought .

Ive been guilty of lumping them all under one heading of Christian which some resent and others revel in .

Even though I’m an atheist it would be foolish for me not to want to engage with others would it not .

Im done though as it’s upsetting a few and not my intention .

Atheists "preaching " is more common than you imagine ,Richard Dawkins makes a very compelling argument for being actively anti religious as did Christopher Hitchens ,and history tells us there have been many atheists who have gone to war "off the back of some disagreement " but these are all off shoots of the original question .

 

If you don't mind my saying ,I think it's maybe your manner (which with all the respect can seem a bit supercillious and superior ) that gets people's back up rather than the content of your posts .

Organised religion is bullshit!

The Koran was written from word of mouth.

The bible (old testament) was written from word of mouth stories. 

The bible (last testement) is a collection of what men believed should constitute the message to control the masses (decided at the council of Nicea)

The Vedas, the Tora (old testament) etc ad infinitum.

I'll stick with my own spirituality, based on science. Energy can never be destroyed only transformed. Nature is my God and buddha my guide but only in the sense that karma is a bitch

When I die, I will return my energy to the universe. That doesn't mean I'll know about it, just that whatever energy I posses, will go back to everything else and be recycled
