chartpolski 28,360
The Saudis are going to have Formula one Grand Prix in a couple of years time, when they get the track built. And why not ? They already have them in tax havens like Monaco, shitholes like Braziil, and Malasia, where Sharia Law is implemented even more severely than in Saud ! Tennis, Golf and horse racing Majors and Classics are in the pipe line As we know, world class boxing is already held there. Its the way Saudi is heading under the direction of the young Crown Prince. He's already ordered the building of a Freeport City on the Red Sea coast to rival Dubai. Its only a matter of time before they get further into the English Premier League, they already own Sheffield United. Money talks in professional sport , and the Saudis have the money to talk loudest ! Cheers.

London Gateway, the biggest ships in the world are unloading in there daily so I suppose Max is going to sell all his clobber, his telly, his bike, his half and half Sunderland/Arsenal shirt, his “I love Thailand” baseball hat, his sofa, stop going to any shops or buying anything at all........I mean, being the moral patriot he is I’m sure his conscience couldn’t handle doing otherwise ! As Iv said this is a few folks soapbox but yous are changing nothing . Lol Wilf, the older generation Saudis who remembered being piss poor Beduin, then suddenly had untold oil riches, spent money like a drunken sailor on shore leave ! They had no thought for the future, they have a saying, " bukrah insh allah", god will take care of us tomorrow. But the younger, western educated princes saw that the oil would run out sometime, and decided to plan for the future. They have their investments in more things than we can imagine. If the north east in general, and Newcastle in particular could have benefited from some of that investment, I'd have been all for that ! Cheers.
eastcoast 4,596
Reading through the last few pages and the "fear" that a Saudi funded takeover of NUFC will result in them building mosques in the area? They've missed the boat on that one as we've had them for years. There is one within walking distance of St. James'. Are there any urban areas of England mosque free? They have not had any effect on me personally, detrimental or otherwise. It's the greens and "liberals" who seem to want to fix things that aren't broken due to their own beliefs rather than what the people actually want or need. A congestion charge for Newcastle seems inevitable at some point. That will really assist local business'.

When the fire station on the West Road closed, the local Asian community tried to buy it to turn it into a mosque. They were told they had a big mosque on Elswick road, and permission was denied . A congestion charge was mooted, but dumped in favour of a toll on the Tyne bridge and the swing bridge. I think that will sound the death knell for many businesses in Newcastle and Gateshead, why pay to get into town and then pay for parking, when you can go to the Metro Centre or Kingston Park for free ? Cheers.
