What's the shore fishing like there jetro

Fairly good, no pollution what so ever. Fish from mackerel to blue shark, and tuna.

The lakes just hold brown trout, and the odd perch. No pike or course fishing.

Just across the road and beside me.

It's a small rual fishing village, one of many along the west coast.

Neighbours here are mostly family, either by birth or marriage. It's mostly the same families in the same houses for the last couple of 100 years.

Nobody bothers you here, as long as you don't bother them. These a great community spirit, everyone helps and looks out for each other.

Fishing was the main lively hood here, no farming or building trade.

Sounds perfect does the fishing still support the village.

No unfortunately it doesn't.

It's fairly hard to make a decent wage at fishing alone now. That's down to a number of reasons.  The price of fish, poor, the cost of fuel, pots, bait, running cost of boat and having to pay two people out of the catch. Also the lobster is nearly gone from the fishing grounds by me, that's down to greed and bad management.

We have good scallop and oyster beds that's managed by a good fishery co op.

But with this covid 19 pandemic, hopfully the fishing grounds will get a well deserved break, and replenish its self.

Fish farming was a massive industry here, from the 80s till now. A lot of money was made by most everyone at one time working there.

It's gone all automatically now, no need for labourers.
