I would think schools will shut here soon, which makes sense if other things are being closed. The parents of kids in school must be one of the most at risk groups? Seen as all the masks & sanitiser in the world makes no difference to dropping off unprotected kids & picking them up again each day. Yup, had to go pick my daughter up from school yesterday as she and 30 other kids sent home after one of her group tested positive......

We had the same a few weeks ago at our school. 2 classes sent home, but not our kids. My daughter came home yesterday with a bit of temp, she’s sat here now......as you know it’s an endless merry-go-round of runny noses & temperatures this time of year. I’ve heard parents moan about 7 year olds falling behind with schooling, but I think it’s more about what to do with them. School these days is free day care as well as education, because most parents both have to work full time unfortunately.

My youngest has to have 2 weeks off due to her teacher testing positive as does my nephew. There's apparently 700 kids in Plymouth in isolation according to the local rag
chartpolski 28,007
Owen Jones ......two of the funniest things I've seen in politics was when he stormed off a Sky debate when Julia Hartley Brewer upset him by not agreeing with his homosexual view of the world, and when Neil Andrews put him back in his box when he tried to accuse Andrews of being far right. A duplicitous man, he was as far left as could be when he was a Corbyn acolyte, then he turned on Corbyn, but realised he was being disowned by the Labour party and did an about face and tried to get back in favour, but the damage was done. A whining, champagne socialist who encompasses everything that is now wrong with a once great party. Cheers. Edited October 23, 2020 by chartpolski

Never a truer word spoken and i cringe at some not many ex miners who seem to think this cretin is some sort of working class hero.

tatsblisters 10,963
It appears the temp checks that's carried out in the work place is not an indication of having the virus two of the wife's work mates their temps were normal despite testing positive. chartpolski 28,007
It's beneath contempt to equate the miners strike with the government not giving in to blackmail by a posturing Burnham trying to score political points.. I well remember the violence and hardship of the strike; the police horse charges, heads being split by batons, I remember the food parcels being put together to feed the miners kids. One instance I'll never forget was some miners coming into the pub collecting, we all put into the collection tins, then I said " here lads, I'll buy you a pint before you go", one of the miners replied "how can we have a drink when we need to feed our kids, put the beer money in the collection please", which of course I did ! For a rich Islington champagne socialist, who probably wasn't even born during the strike, to use it to justify what Burnham tried to do is disgusting ! Cheers. I wouldn’t presume to tell an ex miner who was there about the miners strike mate but I can tell you my view of it nowadays. From what I can see now, it was two powerful organisations (the unions and the government) manoeuvring against each other for the normal reason (power) and those men were the pawns and victims in it all. Not saying it’s a fact, just how I see it and I see now that if we could have taken the union out of the equation we should have supported those men and those communities because it was in hindsight an attack on the British male himself. But supporting them would have meant empowering the union and ultimately they never had Britain’s best interest at heart either......like all men in power, it was all about feathering their own nest same as the governments they claimed to despise jmho 3
