Same as most of these bull crosses around at moment. Alot of the time, even if it's only got an 1/8th bull blood, it's a 'bull cross' lol. Said dog might be a cracker, but it aint a bull cross

Doesn't the modern greyhound bring the power, speed and size? That just leaves the coat..... Which comes back to aesthetic appeal.

If folk like deerhounds, they are going to use them in their plans. The most obvious thing your not going to get using something else is temperament

Not all greyhounds mate some can be rather small an through rather small offspring because of what’s in there line but I get what ya saying I think coat,temperament an super size is going to even the odds of large offspring over a greyhound

Irish Park coursing throw big.

When people keep looking for working stock, dogs performing the job they were bred for, the DH is rarely an option. They are outmatched by lurchers or even pure greys. I've had just two DH hybrids, I liked both but each only had a quarter DH, and that could have been replaced with wheaten, galgo etc. Especially if larger types of greyhound were used. 

I have a soft spot for the hybrid but if I was looking purely for best worker I'd look elsewhere.

Yeah, but there's deerhound blood in galgos, hence the rough/broken coat on alot of them.

Anyway, why does everyone on here feel the need to own 'the best'? If someone wants to use deerhound, whippet, saluki, galgo, sloughi or whatever, crack on

Where does the idea of DH in Galgos come from? There were Galgos, rough and smooth long before DH, more likely the other way round.

People have their own reasons to own dogs, some want the best worker, others the best looking etc, I agree each to their and as I said I have soft spot for the hybrid but if I was looking purely for the best worker I'd look elsewhere and wheaten would likely be my 1st choice.

Neither here nor there. Folk have said you'd be better off with a Saluki lurcher, but you like galgos..next person will say you'd be better off with something else

Genuine question, beyond the aesthetic, do you think a 1/4 DH would bring more to a working dog than a 1/4 Wheaton for those looking for a rough coated type ?

Lot of bullshit written about deerhounds and deer/greys.i've had 4 deer/greys biggest one was a 3/4 deer 1/4 grey at 31" and he caught roe,fallow,hare and rabbit day and night and thats in small somerset and devon fields.fox he never liked but he could catch them.☺ others were better at that game and 1 was a horrible nasty bitch on them.there's more to them than looks and temperment and they don't take ages to mature,all mine were working and wanting more at 12 months.

Hardly any experience of Wheaton, but yes imo and they are probably looking for a deerhound type..and they aren't all rough...
