I understand what you are saying, but where does it end? We traditionally have the League Cup (in various incarnations), the FA Cup and the leagues. Add to that the European fixtures for those that qualify and the add-ons, Super Cup, World Club Championship and factor in any replays and extra-times. Then there are international commitments. More and more friendlies, each continent has its own competition like the Euros and then the World Cup. The FA, FIFA , television companies, sponsors and everybody else are flogging the game to death for their own ends, i.e. profit. And the FFP rules limit squad depth and shape squads by insisting on certain quotas of nationalities. I cannot blame Klopp or anybody else for taking a step out of the less important competitions and from a players, fans, owners and sponsors point of view, it is a necessary evil.

They almost certainly want to win the FA cup but they want to win the league more

I get the argument, but Klopp should be at the very least.

We indeed would have given anything to play in an FA cup final but then again we wasn’t world and European champions, I’m actually really looking forward to seeing Liverpool’s U23 play with another bloke at the helm, it will be a good measure of what they have coming along and a showcase of what they have been developing in a game that matters. Are you worried just a little bit as a Utd fan

gnasher16 29,646
Its disrespectful to English football and English fans we all piss and moan about how commercialised the game has gone and how its not as good as back in our day but then give Klopp a pass because he,s a smashing fella ! I hope they're not charging spectators....imagine going to watch your favourite pop group live and they roll out a bunch of kids you've never heard of. Personally i think clubs should be punished if they dont try their very best to win every game they play....a manager not even going to his own clubs game is just arrogant beyond belief in my opinion.

When it was Ferguson he was the biggest c**t going... and I agreed, utd shouldn't have come out of the FA cup in favour of the World Club cup....but cause its Klopp and the nation love him it's ok to f**k off on holiday and let someone else take charge....nah...one rule for one, one rule for all in my book.... Liverpool woukdve given their right bollock to win the FA cup every other season for the last 30 years ....strange how a bit of success changes a club and its fans....
dytkos 17,536
If it's mid season break it shouldn't have been scheduled for that date in the first place. Cheers, D.
WILF 44,280
The FA cup is my favourite competition and always has been. But, top level football has become much bigger than the FA cup, sad but true I’m afraid......I totally get why Klopp is doing this and what’s more I make him right. Its down to the FA to invest and make it special again and keep it as a place where minnows can kill giants, tie it in with development programmes, use it as a showcase to show what the FA is putting back into the game, market it like that and it will matter to more people imho Its not a question of should the FA cup matter, they should be asking WHY it doesn’t matter to some clubs.
Nicepix 5,650
They could start by making every match kick off at 3pm on a Saturday instead of spreading one round through half a week.

I have never supported Liverpool. I admire them, but I don't support them. And while Klopp seems to get away with things that Miserable Mou' can't, my reasons for supporting his stance has been explained before. Somebody has to take a stand against the relentless fixture programs the top clubs face and it just happens to be him. If nothing is done then football at the top level will suffer.
