Is it specifically him? Or what he did? No one I love or know well has ever been in such a situation. So for me an issue like this has only ever been a theoretical ethical debate. But I'm a bit mindful of the 'Few Good Men' denouement scene. I'm pretty sure I probably couldn't 'handle the truth'. And yet I'm also rather glad that there are people who put themselves between me and the bullets and bad guys. (And sincerely hope it will never be one of my family standing there, or facing that highly charged opportunity). People like me have no idea what people like him (you?) actually do or feel.
