ginger beard 4,652
Don't use straw as mites can hide in it use hay.I was aways told you can get ticks in hay. And wheat star is better but I find that very hard to get hold of I've use star all my life and never had a problem, but I do use Frontline ever three months. But even before Frontline never had a problem. Cheers Arry o bugger,i use hay in the bed and straw in the run.it straw don't go everywhere and i find it easier to clean out than shavings. Bobtheferret 1,226
Used straw for over 30 years and never had an issue, they love it. Just my opinion. Atb 2 Quote Link to post

Guest vin
talking of baths..one of my hobs loves a good long soak in a warm bath..i usually borrow the washing up bowl and half fill it with nice warm water...He just lays there on his back soaking it up like a porn star.. he hates getting out once he's in and settled. i give them all a good soak with some insecticide horse shampoo a few times a year...diluted down obviously...makes em clean, shiny and pest free. beany01 223
Thanks for all the advice. There are two sleeping quarters, so in the top I put a cardboard box with a layer of shavings and filled it up with shredded paper, and in the bottom, I put a layer of shavings and filled it up with hay. On the first night it was bloody cold, so they both went in the top. The next night it was milder, and there was one in each, and the third night they both went in the bottom! Quote Link to post

beany01 223
Well actually I'm now going to build a ferret court, 8ftx6ftx6ft. I'm just going to put the hutch inside it up one end. I was wondering if 1" 16g mesh would be ok? Quote Link to post
