An absolute legend, RIP Fidel. Think you need to ask the people of Cuba , just as an outsider looking in it seems they had a pretty hard life before he came on the scene and bloody hard one all the time he was there ..they all seemed to be living in virtual poverty ( apart from the boys at the top ) which never changed . If being independent of the States then means you need to be dependant on Russia purely for an ideology what are you achieving? Now after all these years your turning the clock back to welcome the tourists and the American dollar . Denial of basic democratic, religious and personal freedoms, no political opposition, cursory imprisonment of opponents, torture and killing on a grand scale....... Pol Pot, Pinochet, Saddam, Idi Amin and several Kim Juns....all denounced as murderous tyrants - and rightly so.
