No, it sets a dangerous precedence for kids. No matter what there will be cheats. Bribery is rife in some aspects of sport, does that mean we should allow that too?   Surely part of the character bu

i want to see some one run soo fast they disappear into a time void and re-appear at the finnish line 3 seconds later a old man shouting " beware north Korea!" before falling dead

it becomes who got the best drug dealer then

Loathe as i am to sit on the fence on any subject i think i will on this one as what i thought even 5 years ago im not sure i still think today......and for good reason !

What i do know for a fact is that if ped,s in sport were made legal tomorrow.....as much as folk are frightened to admit it.....performance wise not an awful lot would change at the highest level of sport ;)

Exactly, it's the lying and covering up that I detest. It's the same in the bodybuilding world, the supplement industry would take a big hit that's for sure I guess.

Its a lot more open in the bodybuilding world as there are seperate competitions for natural lifters so the does he/doesnt he thing is not an issue.......the reality is that the gap between very good athletes and elite level athletes is pretty much finance based......elite earning athletes have access to things very good athletes dont and im afraid things have gone way past what they can come back from for the " level playing field " idealists.....sport has never been about a level playing field so the concept that everybody has the same chance is as ridiculous now as it ever was.

The health risks and what we as human beings need protecting against.....well thats a different matter.

Are peds steroids?

What was Armstrong done for, someone told me it was 'blood doping' and that's different from steroids??

PEDS at their simplest are any supplement that enhances performance. In terms of sport they're generally regarded as only the banned ones. Anabolic steroids would generally be considered as such but they are specifically to enhance muscle building, other types of peds can increase your body's oxygen carrying capacity, painkillers to raise pain threshold, stimulants etc etc.

Caffeine would be a PED in the simplest of definitions.

Sports evolved as a way for men to test who was best.

And that would give them status and so attract women (why do you think the original olympians competed naked?) which I think is the reason most people hate cheaters in sport.

they're probably not of the best genetic stock but still get the all the glory\status and will have a disproportionate impact on the gene pool, meaning it'll be weaker than had the better man won.

Just a random theory from the mind of neems

But even ignoring that,I dont think we should have a culture where potentially very damaging drugs are accepted in what should inspire people to be fit and healthy.

Some athletes get caught using peds and others know how to use peds and not get caught and others don't use them at all,and that is basically how it is. Nobody brings more money into Las Vegas than Mayweather so don't think he would not get a blind eye turned to some of his alleged "discrepancies" . It's a bit early to say if he is another Lance Armstrong, but I would not be surprised in the slightest if he was "outed" in a few years time .
