marshman 7,758
I disagree that a pint is the same no matter where. A pint of guinness should be poured into a straight glass, in the UK they serve them in the same glasses as lager or cider. A barman once told me that in the UK the gas is in the keg whereas in Ireland the gas is put into the pint half way between the keg and the glass, hence the reason that a British barman pulls your pint and gives it straight to you, in Ireland the barman pulls the pint and after a few minutes tops it up and gives it to you. One of the best pubs I know for a pint (Fatman and Dillydog of here drank enough of them a few times in it) the owner would be standing over your pint and when you asked for it he'd look at it and say "it's not ready". A proper Guinness connoisseur. LOL. ah you could knock one one back right now couldn't ya ?

air gun ant 1,666
Guinness is my go-to drink when I'm rough as hell from the night before! 10 in an afternoon isn't much bother, then home, eat, sleep and off to wrk in the morning. It's easy drinking when your stomachs rejecting everything else you try and drink lol and I'm sure it does help rehydrate you?
jok 3,442
same subject. I used to drink in a little local, lunchtimes. This geezer walked in all dresses in black, and I mean black. Asked the landlord if he stocked bottled Guiness. No was the reply. Well I'm going to be in the village each Friday for the forseeable future so could you make sure you have some. What time of day were you thinking of coming in. No idea don't have a watch. Work with the fact that when I'm awake I work and drink. Any other time I sleep. This geezer turned up every Friday and drank 12 bottles of Guiness. Cycled home to Hinckley, Leics. Went by the name of Sooty. You'd never guess? Chimney sweep. MoChara 1,632
Don't drink anymore but I've put some drink away. 10 pints of Guinness though, nope. Last time I drank Guinness was at a wedding reception. Mix of many pints of Guinness, bass and tequila shots - to this day I can't remember the bride and grooms names I mind drinking vodka and pints in a bar felt okie dokie until I went for a smoke 2hours later, into the air I went, then I hit the deck I swear I wasn't drunk till I went outside then i remember frig all else of that day. I was also impartial to straight vodka shots after a snakebites.
MAG1980 116
I'd be very hard pushed to drink 10 pints of guinness, but put 10 pints of cider in front of me thats a different story..... Mmmm
lurcherman 887 13,425
I haven't drank a pint of Guinness in over 2 years but the last time I did I drank nearly 30 pints of the stuff. LOL, maybe it's just as well I don't drink it too often. I feel sorry for you lads in Britain because I don't think ye have ever tasted proper stout, unless you've been to Ireland of course. I used to drink with a man who drank 30 pints a day, I kid you not. Didnt notice the difference last time i was over lol
