Hancock Pups

Recommended Posts

I used to visit DB Plummers quite a bit with Eddie Metcalf (and yes I hunted with Brian and yes he did hunt)! He had some great collies (Bearded) He gave some of his best stock to Mr Hancock, When you buy a dog of David Hancock, you get a pedigree, and who now breeds working dogs. Greyhounds, working, well Coursing is now banned, bullxgrehound (how many bull crosses are bred from fighting bulls?) (NONE), Bedlingtons, working, NO, NONE, If you buy a pup from David Hancock at least you know what you are getting.

That's the thread f****d now - Plummer's showed up...

If you are a defence lawyer you defend people, if you are a builder you build houses - David Hancock is a commercial lurcher breeder so he breeds lurchers - if you couldn't defend or build for shit yo

i bought my first "Hancock dog" off David 20 odd years ago, she was a "real un". ille remember that little first cross bitch till the day i die, for all the right reasons.she would be one of my top 3

I've found with collie types is that they don't suit everybody and when they don't work out then its the dog that invariably gets the blame, thats why a lot of folks say collie x's are this and that w

Well Borderscot, thats where Hancock got his dogs from?

Remember reading Merle start of a Dynasty years ago and in my youthful ignorance being well impressed picture with caption read "fox number 66"...then I saw the dog at Hancock's yard years later and believe me it hadn't killed 66 f***ing foxes. Now there's a fact for you...most unmarked muzzle I've ever seen...fox number 66 my arse...:thumbs::thumbs: Was a good read though!!!

Does anyone know of any hancock bred dog that didn't work out but through its own fault rather than the owners fault?

Just wondering as you always hear of the 'pro hancock' guys who sing their praises but others hate them. Do they hate them because the guy seems to know how to put together a good working dog and is cashing in on that? Because they feel he breeds too many litters - which is morally wrong and bordering on farming? Is it simply because he doesn't work the dogs (eventhough this doesn't seem to effect the offspring)? Or is it because they've had first hand experience?

I have no experience in hancock dogs at all so I'm just curious. I've heard plenty of good and bad on here. I know a couple of lads with them who are very happy with them and you also see lads who go back to hancocks kennels time and time again but then you get the guys who say ' I wouldn't touch a hancock bred dog'. Why is this?

Like I say, I'm totally impartial and open to opinions. Is there more chance of a failure from hancocks kennels than anywhere else? Really?
