Deer and fox dogs

Recommended Posts

if you hunt foxes for numbers few times a week then of course you need a dog with bollacks , but its really silly to say you dont with a deerdog ,and the old deer kill dogs foxes dont may be old saying but its true arent it ?lol....me personally say deer game hardest when legal ,as with all the knocks ,being dragged ,kicked etc etc and thats just does/hinds ,then you have the bucks/stags that any old fox dog will do lol...ye ok

I don't think as many have done deer as they like to think.......takes a special animal to keep going back into a deer after some of the kicks they get, much the same as a fox dog doing a lot a night a few nights a week.

Theres DEER dogs and FOX dogs and theres dogs that can catch a few deer/foxes but don't kid yourself they ain't deer/fox DOGS.

the truth is that probably half the comments on here is off people who have never caught a deer with a dog and are dreamers. if you have had a dog that could pull them day in day out after being dragged about kicked etc then fair play i reckon not alot have...

If these quarry came legal again then I reckon the pup I'm planning for next year would be ideal - deer/grey x collie/grey.

3/4 grey 1/4 deer or 1/4 collie should do the job well though.

These are just my preferred types. I'm sure there are lots of others that would be up to the job.

i agree iv a friend with a 11 year old 3/4hound 1/4 collie still workin away
