Happy Saint Georges Day.

Jut out of curiosity..what is saint george's day all about.. :whistling:

its about two gays one was called george and the other was nicholas and apparently they had a baby and named him after a famous england ceremony, they were the first gays in england to have a baby and this is why we have st georges day named after there son- so proud to be english isnt it :D:thumbs:

I wonder how many of the patriotic people celebrating St. georges day realise that he wasn't English and never ever set foot on English soil?

He was a turkish (Anatolian) martyr who was killed by the romans. He was no more English than st Andrew is Scottish ,or st Patrick was Irish..

 

Only one of the home Nations can boast a native national saint... :whistling::laugh:

Some historians believe he was actually a roman soldier, and he was supposedly born in Syria not Turkey, but you just don't like him 'cos of his alleged killing of the dragon! :whistling:

i read he supposedly had something to do with killing an emporor whos nickname was the dragon? oh and hes who the normans decided should be the patron saint of england because of his military prowess the true patron saint of england is st. edmund and has been practically erased from our history.

what gets my back up is that the pubs in england put posters ,banners etc up in their properties and have discounts on the guiness

but when its st georges day they dont do fxxk all and its just another day on the calendar
